Delicious home cooked breakfast—felt more like I was eating at my grandma’s house than a restaurant. So glad we made the drive. And honestly, the distance seemed intimidating but it was much better than driving through traffic to get somewhere far out west. We will definitely be back!

The cinnamon roll sandwich was surprisingly so good. Biscuits and gravy were fantastic and a huge portion. The breakfast potatoes were tasty after we seasoned them with a little S&P. Same with the eggs. The only slightly negative thing we’d say is the pancakes were difficult to cut and were pretty chewy, not melt in your mouth fluffy like we prefer them. But had a good flavor.

Only one server taking care of the entire place but she hustled and kept things moving.

Glad we found this little gem!

The cafe opened at 9am on a Friday, and ten people wooshed right into the place. We had a nice, relaxing breakfast. It was a great time to be there, as I’m told there is a lunch rush and often a 20-minute wait on the weekends.

The place is adorably decorated, even the clean, well-kept bathrooms.

We both had Hadley’s Hashstack, except that hubby’s was stacked and mine was unstacked. It included two eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage links and hash browns. As an afterthought, we added an order of sourdough toast. You know a place is good, when even the toast is remarkable, so we asked. It’s Rotella’s bread, and they grill it.

I’m guessing the pan was well-greased when baking, because the biscuits had a buttery-crispy texture on the bottom. The sausage gravy was salty, but then I suppose that’s to be expected; it’s sausage, after all, and the gravy has a good amount of it. I’m sure others are fine with it. I’m just overly sensitive to salt.

Our server was welcoming, pleasant and kept the coffee cups filled.

I only regret we had ordered the same meal from the menu; otherwise, we could have tasted more items. The portions are amply sized. It’s the kind of meal that can take you through the whole day.

The building is accessible. There are no steps upon entry.

The town of Springfield makes for a lovely little drive south of Omaha on highway 50. You’ll be there before you know it. Remember to turn east at the Casey’s.

Oh! Across the street is the Springfield Community Center, built with local sandstone at the end of the 1930s as a WPA (Works Progress Administration) project. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places.

Everything was fantastic! The servers were very kind and sweet. Harley the one who is the host/manager was a rockstar who should have her own business one day if she dont take this cafe over. You guys do at great job thank you

Cute place. Great owner. Went in to try the Hadley’s Hashstacker as I had heard great things and unfortunately they were out of sausage gravy and in the process of making more. I could tell this wasn’t the norm and the sweet waitress assured me any other day they have it. I got the sense something had happened that week that may have disrupted things. I paid for my coffee and told them no worries I’ll try again a different day. The owner Amy came out from the kitchen and apologized while giving me a card to come back and try it on her. So nice of her and totally not needed nor expected. Wholesome food. Wholesome people. Need more of it. Definitely will be back and hope you try it as well.

Stopped in for takeout for lunch. We had the BLT wrap w/fries and the Roast beef and cheddar w/tater tots.

The place was packed. There was a slight wait for seating. Our take-out took a bit to get.

Having said that the food was great, definitely worth waiting for. The two young ladies handling the entire front service did an outstanding job and were very helpful and friendly.

I absolutely loved this place! From the atmosphere to the people to of course, THE FOOD! Everything was perfect! I had never been to Springfield before but I will definitely be back here. I visited last Saturday after the storm when everyone was looking for a place w lights and warm food.Given the circumstances, Wicked Hen was more than hospitable and the staff was super apologetic about the wait even though it wasn’t long at all. Thank you Wicked Hen for everything!

I loved it here! upon walking in, I could see that everything was clean and organized. when we got here, we were the only customers, so it was pretty quiet while we ate, until a few more customers came in.
the coffee was delicious, and the service was great! you could tell the waitress loved her job! she kept refreshing our coffee and checked up on us often. the food was VERY delicious and worth the fair price! it was filling and definitely food I will go back for!

Just Googled breakfast near me and this was the first option and what a discovery! It was a little busy when we got there but not to much of a wait. We had the chicken fried steak and what they call the Hash Stacker, biscuits and gravey but with hash browns and eggs on top. It was all wonderful, I especially enjoyed how they toasted the homemade biscuits before smothering them in sausage gravey. Come the next the next day and we’re planning on going for lunch because that menu looked delicious too!
