Omar’s in Ashland is pure gold. Sat at the bar with a bartender who was warm, funny, and poured a martini that was absolute perfection — kept the whole bar buzzing while still making me feel like a VIP.
Bomb!! The onion rings were golden, crispy nuggets of joy — smothered in ranch, beer-battered to perfection, the kind of flavor you only get from years of practice. Big, bold, and downright unforgettable. I’d drive up from San Francisco just for another basket.

Got here (first timers) at 4:30 pm, ahead of the Raiders vs Warriors game and took advantage of happy hour. Got invited to sit at a table even though only the bar was open. Ordered up off the specials menu— the calamari, some chowder and a set of pork bbq sliders, complimented by an Arnold Palmer for the driver and a couple of John Dalys (add vodka). Finished off with one-each of the desserts—blueberry cobbler, a crème brûlée and an ice cream sundae. Completely not sorry. Everything was truly amazing, made fresh in-house (except the ice cream). Freshly breaded seafood, freshly fired sugar cap on the crème brûlée. Just amazing. If the volleyball didn’t bring me the Ashland, Omar’s would!! We’ll certainly be back!

This was our first time here. Our plan was to have a steak dinner as so many recommended it. We were told upon arrival they were out of all steak so that was a big let down. ( to be fair it was the Sunday after valentine’s day) the other meals we had were good but my order was messed up. The staff were great and the place has old school vibes. We may try again.

I had a great experience at Omar’s . I was stopping by 2 get some food after work. I entered it with escargot and seafood excellent I could not ask for better. Ryan the bartender was courteous and helpful in selecting my items.
I had stopped in a few days earlier for the $10 lunch what a deal. Ryan waited on us at that point to he was gracious and knew his stuff who arrived quickly and we were excellently satisfied.

My wife and I have been here many times over the years. Last night was the worst we have ever experienced. The waitress was running like a chicken. 30mins to get a drink ordered. Our soup showed up cold but tasted good. Just wish it was hot. New York was raw. Sent back twice and finally gave up. Ordered it med well. My wife’s filet same. Mashed potatoes were cold, and the veggies need serious help. For 180.00 for two people this was a sheer miss. We had two martinis each at 16.00 per drink .If fine dining is the Aim..then quality of food and service must follow. Unfortunately a big bummer for us last night.

This is a total hidden gem. The restaurant looks humble from the outside and bar, but the interior dining room has an old-fashioned, intimate atmosphere. Everything about every dish my family ate was impressive and satisfying. My NY steak was excellently seasoned and cooked perfectly medium rare. The Oregon Snapper fish and chips my mother ate were outstanding. Especially the “chips,” which were these tender potato wedges with a outside crisp I’ve never seen before. And our server was professional, personable, and relaxing. Overall, for me and my family, it was perfect in every aspect.

Ok, let me start out with this; I had high hopes going into the dinner.
Walking up the ambiance was fantastic. The food smelled amazing. When you enter there is a small entry area, with lots of nostalgic prints from local news articles – creating a storied picture of Omar’s history.
We (I) failed to make reservations and we had to wait for a table. Not a big deal for a Friday night. The hostess was very accommodating.
When we returned after our 30 minute delay, we were seated immediately. Seating is a little unique, but it’s built in the 1940’s original layout and made sense. The ambiance inside is great. Very low key with enough lighting to create a romantic atmosphere but not be too overwhelming if you were just hanging out with friends or family. It was very inviting.
Service! Oh man…story in my head was that our server was very new to her position; or just needs to find a new career if she wasn’t. After watching the other server this evening and how she handled and took care of her customers, it left us feeling very underserved. Hopefully she will figure it out, because it at least felt like she was trying to make the right efforts.
Food (so underwhelming it isn’t funny)! We started off with bread. This was delicious, hot and fresh. Crispy outside and warm, butter melting interior. Delicious. The butter knife my wife got had stuck on gunk on the bottom of the blade (didn’t see it until she flipped it over) after use.
Next we had ordered the “Big O” onion rings. These were hands down some of, if not, the best onion rings I have ever eaten.
Drinks we got Diet Pepsi and a house special margarita. These Pepsi was good. The margarita was not for me. It was made very strong and that is great for some. I was looking for a great margarita with good flavor. This was a really strong drink and perfect for a college town vibe. Not complaining just a little overwhelming for a dinner cocktail.
The soup was clam chowder and was cold. It
Wouldn’t even melt the butter my wife put in it. Flavors and content was good, only if had not been luke warm.
The filet mignon. Came out medium rare(on the very rare side of that). I’m assuming the server mixed up our doneness when she put them in. The whipped potatoes were cold. Legitimately cold – like they were in the fridge and had to be warmed up – Cold!
The Newyork came out medium well – and confirmed my view the server got the doneness mixed up on our orders. The mixed vegetables were great. These baked potatoe was hard and needed more time to soften. There also was no add ons for the potatoes.
Overall this was not worth the amount we paid for dinner. I hope our experience is not the same that everyone has but this was very underwhelming for us.

This IS THE PLACE first eating dinner or lunch or whenever they’re open. We had dinner and it was very very good! Oyster shooters, clam chowder, steamed clams, to start accompanied with plenty of fresh hot bread, then our mains were the Halibut, perfectly prepared with a beautiful seasoning just a touch of crust but the meat was flaky and melt in your mouth delicious, the fish and chips are the best I’ve had since Scotland, and finally and perhaps incongruously a chicken fried steak! It was the best I’ve had. Period. Sorry Texas. While the mains were enough the sides were also excellent, from my potato wedges that had a nice crunchy seasoned exterior and a lovely soft center to the real whipped potatoes seasoned with a bit of chives and butter these were amazing by themselves. Then when we’re all done begging for mercy they mention their creme broule and it won the night. Hard crust creamy not too sweet smooth deliciousness.
All this amazing food plus 6 adult beverages (they have a full bar) was under $200!!! Blew my mind. This is not cheap food, this is excellent food prepared excellently at a bargain price. If I lived within a 100 miles I’d be here once a week.
Finally the people are the friendliest most warm and helpful group I’ve been around since the 80s. Proactive service! Remember those days. These people haven’t ever forgotten. In businesses since 1946!!! Just a real treasure! Treat yourself and visit. Tip your waitstaff the amount you know you should have paid for this great experience!

First time dining here, we enjoyed the atmosphere. Lots of historic photos, which I really enjoyed. Fresh flowers in old glass vases on every table. Seated quickly, server was a sweet girl. We tried the special of New York strip, garlic mashed, grilled asparagus in balsamic glaze, and panko breaded soft shell crab. $45 per plate. I was really happy with the steak, it was cooked and seasoned really well. I liked the asparagus, it was not mushy but firm. The potatoes were plated beautifully as well. Husband had an oyster shooter that he said was great. Husband did not like the crab, there was a slight mush in the middle. I didn’t know how to eat it, but overall a good experience and somewhere I’d go again. Ashland also has an additional food tax even though it’s Oregon so you will find that at any restaurant you eat at there, and they do charge a card use rate of I think 3%. Only gave 3 stars for the food because of the crab, the rest was good. Thanks!

The place has been around for 79 years, how can 79 years in business be wrong. It wasn’t, the food was on point, prices were reasonable, the steak was properly cooked medium rare, the service was fantastic. It was just a great experience. I had eaten a meal an hour before I went, I had no plans to eat again, but I had one bite and I cleaned my plate. That is incredibly rare for me. Cannot reccomend this place enough.
