Noodle Essence is a small, cozy place with about 14 tables, so there isn’t a lot of seating space, but it feels welcoming and intimate. One thing that’s really convenient is that there’s plenty of parking available, which makes visiting easy.
The staff were incredibly sweet and kind, and they made the experience even better. I loved that we were able to choose the type of noodles and even the thickness, which made the meal feel very personalized. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. They also have everything you might need right at your table, which is a nice touch. It’s a great spot if you’re looking for fresh noodles and friendly service in a small, comfortable setting.

Stopped in today for the first time, and the waitress was very prompt in seating me and taking my drink order. They are a newer restaurant, and she was training another waitress who was very attentive to her instructions. The decor was basic, and there were no frills, but it is all about the food, and that was on point.
I chose the Lanzhou fried noodles with beef, carrots , green bell peppers, and shredded cabbage which was very flavorful with a slight spice level, and tender, well seasoned beef. The spiced lamb skewers were flavorful, and had a good level of seasoning. I typically like my meats a little on the rare side, and these were a little more done, but not overcooked. The Xiao Long Bao were great without being chewy, and had a decent amount of meat inside. I will definitely return.

So glad to have found authentic Chinese food near Nashville! Everything we had was delicious. The braised beef noodle soup was a rich broth, generous portion of hand made noodles, tender, delicious beef, and baby bok choy, with just enough heat…my new favorite!

I think this restaurant has a new chef. Their noodles are exactly the same as I had in China. So I considered it as very authentic. I visited there several times and tried three different noodles and the lamb skewers. I loved them all. They are all very delicious.

Absolutely incredible! The menu at Noodle Essence may be small, but it doesn’t need to be big — every single dish is perfection. Their noodles and bao buns are out of this world — the texture and flavor are off the charts! You can tell they’ve put real care into every bite. The people here are also so friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. If you love amazing noodles and great vibes, this is the spot.

Clean, simple interior with a lovely wall mural greet you along with the pleasant staff. Noodle Essence was a delight to visit.
We went early ar 4:30 pm, so there was no wait. There are two menus, one with the hand pulled noodles and the other traditional take-out fair.
We ordered from the noodle menu.
Lanzhou beef set B comes with extra beef, tea infused egg and a side of your choice. We ordered this to share.
The cucumber salad and the black fungus salad were both excellent. If you share the soup, make sure to order an extra egg as you will want your own!
We also ordered the bao- delicious! The lamb skewers were also very tasty. The spices complimented the flavor of the lamb.
The soup was warm and comforting with a tasty broth, you can spice it up at the table with chili oil. I recommend this so you can suit it to your taste. The chili oil is so good. I have made homemade chili oil, but this was superior. The noodles…so good. They have a nice bite and density. We had the next to smallest size. I cant wait to go back to try more styles.
The chef who makes the noodles is there! He is friendly, along with all the staff, and making sure your food is tasty!

wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. prompt, friendly, kind service, fresh ingredients, everything tasted like it was made in house… a fantastic meal overall.
bf and i had the “a” and “b” set meals, plus bao and dumplings. i’ve never tasted broth like that, and the noodles are scrumptious and made with so much love. we saw the chef peaking over the window, anxious to see if we liked the meal.
have never had lanzhou style noodles, but it reminded me of all the superb chinese food i had growing up in san francisco. please go and try everything on the dang menu!!!

My first visit, but definitely not my last! I’m still thinking about that meal—the broth was incredibly flavorful, the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the noodles were as perfectly authentic as I hoped. Don’t sleep on the grilled lamb skewers or the shredded potato salad; both were total standouts! Even though it’s a bit of a trek for me, it was 100% worth the drive. Pro tip: get here early to snag a seat, or grab it to go!

Absolutely love this place! The Lanzhou beef noodles here are amazing – the broth is rich and flavorful, the hand pull noodles, and the beef is super tender.
