I just happened to be driving by looking for somewhere to eat. The sign caught my attention ,Billy Dicks just sounds like a great BBQ joint. Let me tell you, they didn’t disappoint. We had the brisket and the short ribs. Everything tasted amazing. The beans were amazing too. Can’t say enough good things. Would definitely eat here again.

On my way back to Toronto from a vacation in Muskoka, I decided to stop in Barrie for lunch and chose this barbecue spot. As its high Google rating suggests, the barbecue was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked and wonderfully juicy. The side dishes were also very tasty, and the owner was very friendly.
All in all, if you’re in Barrie, it’s definitely worth a try!

Do you love barbecue? Pulled pork? Beef brisket? Ribs? I have good news for you! If you live anywhere near downtown Barrie, this menu is made for you. The menu is simple, with full meal offerings or sandwiches, and a few sides. Nice and uncomplicated. But oh, the flavours! Very complex. My issue with barbeque is often that it’s too salty: that the dry rub uses too much sodium. That’s not the case here. There’s great flavour without all the high salt taste. Because this was our first time visiting, we decided to try multiple dishes. I chose the beef brisket meal. Dennis had the pulled pork meal. We also brought a side of ribs home to taste along with the beef tallow-cooked french fries. Five stars on all. The bark on the brisket was amazing. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious. It’s been a long time since I found anywhere that deep fries their potatoes in beef tallow – and let me tell you – you can taste the difference. All portions are generous: the apple coleslaw was crunchy, the medallion dill pickles, and thin slices of onion provided crunch on the side. Baked beans can be tricky – but these had a great tomato back-taste and were delicious. There was lots of everything, too! We’re never afraid to order extra and have re-warms the next day. I can say this – the rewarms were even better, if possible. This business is centrally located on the south side of Dunlop Street very close to the five point intersection and Barrie’s waterfront and marina. So if you’re boating (or strolling) and fresh-air famished, drop by. It has a simple dine in experience. And a robust takeout. When you come in, you’ll be greeted by Alex, with a smile, and a chalkboard with the special of the day. Oxtail was featured the night we went. I don’t think you could go wrong on any of the choices, though and if you’re not sure, ask Alex for a little taste. I’m guessing you’ll be happy you dropped in. And you will most probably have leftovers for the next day because of the generous portion size. Summertime and ribs on the waterfront. Does it get any better?

Stopped by while driving through Barrie, so worth the stop!! Food was great! The owner was friendly. We had the 3 meat meal and an order of fries! Beef cheek special was amazing, fall off the bone ribs and brisket and pulled pork were all great!! Will make the drive again

Ordered the Family Platter via UberEats. Very impressed with quality and taste of the various meats (turkey, pulled pork, ribs and brisket). Also came with coleslaw and beans, alongside mustard and BBQ sauce (sauces were okay- I prefer a sweeter mustard with my bbq). Overall loved the meats and sauces. Coleslaw was very fresh and I enjoyed the fresh dill in it. The baked beans were so-so (I prefer a bean with peppers and onions and maybe some bacon in it personally, hence the 4 stars). Nothing was overly salty or greasy either which I appreciated. I will be a repeat customer. So many things to try still!

Amazing BBQ spot in Barrie. We had the family platter with extra ribs and brisket. I really like that the sauce is in the side, as many spots put so much sauce that you can’t taste the smoke. My favourite was the ribs, which were the best I’ve ever had. They didn’t need any of the sauce at all. The brisket was solid, but the smoked turkey breast was unique and delicious. Great spot.

Unfortunately the food wasn’t the greatest for me. Right away I noticed he pulled an already cut piece of brisket out of a warmer that was in a bag and I was there right when they opened so there is no way that was cooked from the night before, that was probably a couple days old and it showed. He gave me a small piece to taste which was really good and fatty and juicy but when I got home to eat the sandwhich it was like eating sawdust, it was so dry and zero juice, I honestly could not finish it. Was surprised since the sample he gave me tasted good. The pork ribs were not bad, they were very tender but IMO lacking smoke flavor and seasoning. The owner was very nice though, I might go back and try it again at some point and hope for a more juicy brisket.

No words except “lifechanging.” Quite possibly one of the best – if not THE best new addition to Barrie. Food so good and well seasoned, it’s almost offensive. The best poutine that I’ve ever had, hands down. There was even a point where Iris by Goo Goo Dolls started to play over the speaker as I took a bite out of my beautiful, tender brisket sandwich, and it just about made me shed a tear.
The owner, Alex, was incredibly friendly and provided exceptional service. (And even let us try some delicious oxtail!) Worth every five star review it has. I will be back!
