Cassell’s Hamburgers

Social Profile:

Our story began in 1948, when Al Cassell opened Cassell’s Hamburgers, which became an iconic lunch counter in Los Angeles. Famously known for grinding fresh beef everyday, and making his own mayonaisse, his passion for the hamburger lives on. The soul of the restaurant stays true to founder Al Cassell’s original principles of being a hamburger shop with a focus on premium beef, ground daily in house. All of our burgers are still cooked on Al Cassell’s famous original crossfire broiler, ground with the original grinder, and pattied with the original press.

First time here, very interesting and neat set up. And old converted house, with multiple businesses on the property. Parking can be tricky in this area depending on the time of day in the area. Friendly staff at this location. Alcohol available as well as sodas and house made sodas. Menu has tons of choices, breakfasts available all day too. Made fresh to order, so does take a minute . Indoor and outdoor seating. Quality food, it is pricey. Can go just about anywhere else for cheaper food but the flavor was great and worth the price. Portion was enough. Would recommend and possibly return,

What a gem of a place! The guy behind the counter was very kind and patient with us, especially it being a first time. The burger is SOLID, so good. Cooked in cast iron and 1/3 of a pound. The chili cheese fries with pico de gallo also very good. The homemade Shirley temple is a must get too. The garden patio outside is also very nice to walk around in. Just a heads up though, none of their bathrooms have a baby changing table, so you’ll have to be crafty about where to change your baby if you bring one. Also, no ramps for the stroller, so plan accordingly.

Great atmosphere for dining in. Staff were super friendly and nice. Hamburgers and patty melts are good at this location, just like the other location. Consistently good.

Off the bat, I have to say that the burger was tasty and the French fries. Sauces were meh. Credit to the chef. But man the cost of the food here is far beyond the size and taste. For what it cost my mind should have been blown. (And yeah, I knew what the prices were going in). The other downside here is that the location is a bit hard to find, as it is tucked away in a small complex of cottages that have different food establishments in them. I have no idea who the target audience is for this place. I felt like I was in someone’s Instagram advertisement versus a real restaurant.

Awesome burger and fries, just as good as the original in Koreatown! Unique and imaginative use of a property. 4 restaurants and a tattoo shop on two adjacent properties.

The tuna melt was really good. Wish came with more crunchy veggies like carrots and celery.

Don’t get the breakfast burger. Atrocious, it’s just greasy and flavorless with a chance for burnt hash brown. The patty was the only good part. Needs some sort of vinegar.

The food solid and the portions were generous. For example, you could share the onion rings amongst 2-3 people easily. There is indoor and shaded outdoor seating in a sweet garden. I’d go again.

I’m calling it. Best burger I’ve had in ages. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The bun is fantastic. My new favorite!

The atmosphere makes this place next level! There’s a little secret garden that makes it tucked away and secluded which is so nice! Plus the food is delicious! I can’t wait to see this place popping off!
