Everything we had was amazing and server was attentive and sweet. Salad was a hearty mix of greens, almonds (not the typical iceberg lettuce with one tomato). Mushroom burger, teriyaki chicken plate, chicken spring rolls, coconut-pineapple ice cream… all really, really good. Fat and very happy diners. 🙂 I usually don’t write reviews, but really want to keep this place going. You could pass by this place and never know what a little gem it is. If you’re in the area, give it a shot.

We were heading home a week ago and saw a sign for P2 Restaurant Asian & American Cuisine to our right and almost missed this place heading North on N. Second St. since it sits tucked off the road in a slant, but we saw it all the same. We had been looking for an Asian restaurant since moving to this area for sometime now and we wanted one closer than Santee. We looked at some of the reviews and everyone one had great things to say about the place so we decided to give it a try. I had my son come along with us since he loves Asian food and that’s the only time he feels comfortable using chopstick in public.
When we arrive just before 4 p.m. and pulled into the private parking lot it was large with handicapped parking. Once inside we noticed that the place was very clean and had plenty of seating available with both standard height and tall tables. There were also large televisions on the walls in a couple of areas. We were greeted immediately by our server Mary who is very friendly and informative. We were seated and our drink orders taken. The ice tea was marvelous it had some kind of light jasmine flavor infused into it.
Our order was the Crispy Salt and Pepper Wings for $10.95 which had 14 very larger crispy battered chicken wings toasted with salt and pepper, fried garlic and crushed red peppers served with jasmine rice and thinking that with all that pepper it would be spicy, it wasn’t it was very mild even the wife and son liked it and they are not fans of anything spicy. We also ordered the Pineapple Short Ribs for $11.95 which were beef short ribs in a honey pineapple BBQ marinate grilled with sliced onions with a sprinkle of roasted sesame seeds on a sizzling plate with a side of jasmine rice, it was fantastic. Also ordered was Teriyaki Beef Bowl for $6.95 which is marinated sliced New York beef grilled with butter served over steamed rice and covered with Teriyaki sauce and accompanied with steamed vegetables. It too was great. At the end of our meal we were offered a complimentary dessert of either green tea ice cream or coconut ice cream and we choose the coconut which was coconut and chunks of pineapple mixed together very yummy.
I can now see why everyone wrote such great reviews about P2 Restaurant Asian & American Cuisine. Great food, great service and great value. I know we will be going back soon. If you ever get a chance to go here you won’t be disappointed, I promise.

Decided to finally check out this place after all the positive reviews. Let me just say that Experts will not steer you wrong here. Take heed the suggestions that are listed in these reviews if you’re not sure what to order. They also had a long list inside the restaurant of other specials that are available (non-menu items). The restaurant itself is tucked next to a gas station mini mall type place. DON’T LET THE OUTSIDE FOOL YOU! This place has some quality grub. The portions are large too, so don’t order too much….actually, order too much and try everything you can stomach. They’ll give you leftover boxes….I have 4!
THA LOWDOWN:
Crispy Salt & Pepper Wings – A must order. Rivals any other salt & pepper wings you will find in the county. Nice big wings also…no small stuff. Crispy. A bit spicy. Delicious.
Cream Cheese Wontons – Meh. Had better, but they weren’t terrible.
Wonton Soup – Super flavorful.
Orange Chicken – Good flavor. Big portion. A bit dry, but not still good.
Basil Fried Rice (combo) – So good! Spicy. Flavorful. Great texture. Love the thinly sliced peppers. Make sure you order this! Seriously.
Overall very pleased with the service as well. There was only one waitress, which is fine because there was only one other large group. ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: Go to Happy Hour! $2 Stone IPA’s and 1/2 off apps and all wings. P2 is J2 approved!

New ownership. Foods different. The old menu was better. They got rid of the Thai fried rice. Really? That was one of the best things you had. I won’t be returning.

The worse food I have ever had. The tomato basil angel hair was poorly made. The philly cheese steak was sometging my baby brother would make and the salad was slimy. Never go. Kips 2 blocks up is way better.

This is a fantastic place to recover the mind and body from a night out. The Vietnamese iced coffee is a great addition to your meal. Healthy options for big appetites.

WE HAVE BEEN TO THIS RESTAURANT 4 TIMES & THE EVERY PLATE WE HAVE TRIED HAVE BEEN EXCELLENT. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRYING THE CHOW MEIN PLATE & THE FRIED RICE. WE EAT AT A LOT OF OTHER ASIAN RESTAURANTS AROUND SAN DIEGO INCLUDING KEARNY MESA & THE FOOD HERE HAS BEEN THE BEST SO FAR. IT ALSO HELPS THAT WE LIVE CLOSE BY & NOT HAVE TO DRIVE TO KEARNY MESA FOR GOOD ASIAN FOODS. THEY ARE NEW TO THIS LOCATION & WE ARE PRAYING THAT THEY STAY OPEN. TRY THE PLATES ABOVE & YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED. YOU ALSO GET A LOT OF FOOD FOR A REASONABLE PRICE.
