Stopped by for lunch on a recent road trip and loved this place. It is family owned and operated and is decorated cool, with a nice swamp monster theme. Was thinking it was Bigfoot but maybe the Honey Island Swamp Monster?? Anyways has the BBQ Shrimp and it was really good. Service was friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back!

A lovely little place. We were passing thru and saw it. My husband said it was the best shrimp and grits he has ever had. I had the kids shrimp and fries. We had blueberry cheesecake for dessert. We would definitely come this way again just to eat here. A definite must try.

Food was really good (fries are great) and the vibe is cool with the swamp monster thing and all. Place could be bigger, but it’s conveniently located in the quaint downtown area. Definitely worth going back for more!

I’m from California and have spent a couple of days in New Orleans, and I definitely enjoyed the food. But boy am I happy that I found this restaurant online! The food was better than anything else I’ve eaten in Louisiana. The service was incredible. Our waitress was so kind. Southern hospitality is real! My shrimp Po boy, crap jalapeno poppers and salad were all delicious! The owner even came out and greeted my husband and I, and brought us a complimentary bowl of crab corn chowder. It was amazing. We’re visiting for a week and even though we’re staying 40 minutes away, it’ll be worth it to go back and enjoy the food, service and atmosphere. And the restaurant decor is so fun! My husband and I highly recommend this restaurant!

We stopped in for a bite while traveling, seemed like a cool place – and it was! The owner was fantastic, very friendly. His daughter was our server and she was just as friendly. Food was great! The decor was great! You can definitely tell that the owner pours his heart into his restaurant.

I don’t know where this place has been all my life but I’m in love. The food is beyond amazing, the flavor was definitely not left in the pot and it’s not scraps. Atmosphere is fantastic, service is the absolute best. Everyone was attentive and informative about all menu items. If you have never been here you Have to stop and try ALL their food!!!

I was immediately intrigued by the quirky atmosphere of Swamp Monster Restaurant. There was so much to look at outside and inside. Plenty of seating greeted us inside, plus a very friendly, helpful server. Our menus were immediately given and our drinks almost immediately after that…large and icy. Upon finding that we were from Canada we were treated to a sample bowl of very yummy gumbo. It was rich and flavourful. We all ordered burgers, which were very generous, and fries for accompaniment which were golden and crispy. We didn’t try the day’s special, which was Monster Mash, a mound of mashed potatoes topped with a burger pattie and gravy but it did sound good. After eating, the owner came out and to greet us and joined us in conversation for a while at our table. It was a lovely time all around.

I was in the area looking at things to do and noticed this restaurant with a theme, and I do love a good theme. Parking is plenty, street parking. I got the Filthy Swamp Thing to eat there and the OMG Burger to take home to eat later. It was all so delicious! I could not finish the Filthy Swamp Thing there, so I brought half of it home. Prices were a bit on the high side, but everything was so huge, it was worth it. Service was amazing. The waitress was very friendly. I will be back if I am in the area again!

I had the seafood plate shrimp and catfish. The hush puppies were the surprise of my meal. Holy cow they’re delicious. The catfish were seasoned perfectly and the shrimp weren’t overcooked. My friend had the swamp bucket. Cajun fries topped with etouffe. It was also amazing. There’s no lack of seasoning at this place. The service was fast and friendly and the head chef came around to each table to make sure we were enjoying our food. I’m highly impressed. If you’re visiting this area, definitely make sure you stop if you’re looking for a seafood meal or a poboy. I’ll be back. Best fried catfish I’ve had in a long time!!

The overall theme is a bit eclectic, but the food and service were excellent!
While our family has been visiting the North Shore and N.O. area, we have tried multiple places for hot roast beef po-boys. The Swamp Monster Restaurant is definitely the best we’ve had overall!
Their roast beef was awesome, and so moist, it doesn’t need any extra gravy. It also pairs well with the classic French bread that the po-boys are served on. You can also get the roast beef on a number of other stylized options to including their well seasoned Jolie fries (which was a great option for my daughter, that is Celiac).
I couldn’t pass up trying their bread pudding and was not disappointed. The addition of fruit (pineapple and peaches) was lighty sweet and refreshing, which gave it a hint of cobbler while still having the thick and creamy consistency of warm pudding.
The staff was also extremely friendly, chatted with us, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We look forward to returning!
