Someone told me to try this spot and I put it off as much as I could. Then I was leaving the gym and said why not.
Best decision of that day.
The food here is great. The tacos were huge and the bowl tasted fresh. Which was surprising because my expectations were low and the food came out quickly.
Those tacos really made me question why I have ever eaten at Taco Bell lol

Best Taco Tuesday ever fast serves mind you we had a huge order and order came out so fast! workers are great and welcoming especially Marlén she was patient and helpful she recommended us churros and tried horchata for the first time it’s delicious planing on only coming back to this location soon!

Literally the worst experience with customer service. They charged us 12.99 for an item we didn’t order. When we got our food, that item wasn’t with it (we were just going to take it and not complain). We took the receipt inside and explained the situation. The woman said, “it didn’t charge you for it, that was from the customer before you. I know math. Add up, add the taxes. Do the math you’ll see.” (It was listed on the receipt, the register automatically does the math).
After her saying it three times and walking away saying she doesn’t owe us anything, I patiently took out the calculator and showed her and the cook. She then did it on her own. Without apologizing or taking into consideration we were charged taxes on that, she gave us 12.99 in cash, said, “There, I don’t owe you anything!” And walked away.
We still ended up overpaying (because of taxes), and she was adamant that she was right the whole time. We were kind and understanding and wished them all a good day, but she was combative the whole exchange. We will not be returning to this location. My husband doesn’t want to return to Abelardos at any location, and he is the most patient human!

It’s hands down the best Mexican food you can get. The Cabeza Tacos are my favorite. Hard to find beef cheek and they prepare it perfectly. So tender! They also have beef tongue (which is also hard to find). And you can never go wrong with their Carnitas. The staff are always super helpful and will explain the menu items for you, if you don’t speak Spanish (of course you can always save them the trouble and look it up beforehand). The atmosphere is always genuine and delightful.

Sunday Jan 18th Edit to post: I have reached out (twice) to address this issue as requested by the reply below but received no response. I guess it looks good for them, but in reality they dont care! ……On Tuesday January 13th, 2026 I arrive at the 27th street location at 7:05, website says open at 7:00am. The open sign is on but the door is locked, however I see someone inside…ok no problem. He keeps looking but doesn’t open door. I wait until 7:15 and still no one opens door, finally I give up and leave. I would have thought at least someone would come to the door to acknowledge me even if I had to wait a little longer. Very poor customer service in my opionion!! How can you run your business like that?

I stopped here as the restaurant was open late and I was traveling to Buffalo NY so it was on the way. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a drink. Both food and service was excellent. When I was done eating I went to the counter and asked for more ice so I can take it with me and drink in the car and as the gentleman was giving me back the cup with more ice he asked me if I want some beef quesadillas as someone did not pick them up and they were going to be thrown away. So I took 2 of the 6. I have one away at a rest area I stopped at later as I couldn’t eat them both. Nice place and nice people!

Got 3 crispy grilled chicken tacos.
Was overpriced, and the shells were brown and overcooked. It still tastes good but would have been better if not as brown. In the photos I left, the 3 tacos are under all that lettuce.

I went to this abelardos location and they didn’t seem to understand that the meat lovers breakfast burrito has no hash browns/potatoes in the burrito. When I asked to have the burrito remade or get my money refunded they flat out refused to do either and told me I never asked for it with no potatoes. I contacted the police who told me it was a civil matter that they wouldn’t give me a refund for my $13 burrito. I tried contacting corporate as well as the email listed on this locations negative Google reviews with no reply. These people are clowns and thieves. Don’t go here because they’ll probably treat you the same. Best of luck. I’ll keep hoping for my $13 back.
