Just came back from Kauai and needed some island food. The loaded fries are new but a must try. This is the chicken katsu with curry and it’s insanely delicious. My wife got her normal meal but real just ate mine. I’m not a small eater and no way could I even put a dent on this alone. I know it’s a limited item but PLEASE keep it. Crazy good and the curry reminds me of curry I ate in Tokyo, delicious.

I definitely recommend this place the food was so delicious and the staff we’re excellent!!! I am on a carnivore diet and the staff made me a special plate of all meats that were truly delicious!!! OMGoodness!! It is so nice to see a restaurant in Rio Rancho that isn’t mexican/new Mexican food or fast food chicken franchises! L&L Hawaiian BBQ is absolutely Beyond delicious. We were literally looking at new recipes online to try at home and didn’t realize it was as close to lunch time and after seeing all the sticky glazed meats, drooling like crazy and wanting nothing more than sticky glazed Meats, my husband remembered seeing L&L Hawaiian Barbecue on his way home and it did not disappoint in any way. We got two combo meat platters, both of them with sticky barbecue chicken, one with barbecued beef and the other with the fried chicken and the fried chicken was deliciously tender, crispy and not soggy in the least (we ordered takeout) and it survived the drive home completely mouth-wateringly crunchy, juicy and freaking epically delicious! The portions are ginormous! It is so amazing to have something new and fresh in Rio Rancho and hope the mayor stops allowing chicken franchises and more Mexican restaurants within our city and let us experience the deliciousness of other Cuisines within our city limits! Beyond satisfied! Next time we will be sure to add veggies, we were so focused on sticky glazed Meats and since our children weren’t watching, my husband and I are happily drifting in and out of our meat comas on our brand new sectional!

The food was terrible. The seafood combo plate had three breaded shrimp that taste like they came from a freezer bag. The breaded piece of fish had zero flavor and it looked like the breading wasn’t deep fried in all places. The optional beef rib looked like this weird piece of thick dark bacon with questionable pieces of white stuff in it. The chicken katsu had pieces of chicken with questionable textures suggesting it wasn’t cooked all the way or had grizzle/fat in it. There is also barely any seating and the space is super small so they tried to pack in too many people into a small space.

Service could be better, Colorado Springs L&L Hawaiian BBQ does have top-tier customer service. Rio Rancho just opened and still needs to work on customer service and food quality. My beef ribs looked as if they sat in a warmer for hours. No flavor, bland and rubbery in texture. I ate three bites and couldn’t eat anymore. The fries were cold mush, they weren’t crisp and tasted of fish. Maybe in time, it will get better. We’ll see.

We visited this location a week after their grand opening, and the line was still out the door! We did wait about an hour for our food. I had the Lau Lau combo, which has pork Lau Lau with kalau pork, steamed rice, and the creamiest macaroni salad I’ve ever had. Everything was delicious I can’t wait to go back and try all their other delicious foods.

Ordered takeout via the app for our family of 4. We got a little of everything: chicken katsu, kalua pork, BBQ beef and ribs, and the Musubi trio. Everything was fresh and delicious and our order was ready right on time. The person at the front was friendly and helpful. We ate at one of their Maui locations when we were on vacation in Hawaii so it’s awesome to have a taste of one of our favorite places here in New Mexico.

I usually only do take out just for convenience but the portions are huge for the price (you could easily save half for a second meal) and it’s always been really good. The katsu chicken and the Hawaiian dishes they have are the best when we want something different. The food is seasoned sparingly but the flavor still hits.
