BTW, if you go there, make sure to ask Ricky (the manager) about the woman at the bar named “Becky”, with the pink streak in her hair. 🙂
This Friday, we drove for 45 mins to bring a group of 13 people to celebrate a birthday.
The sign upon entry read the same as it has since we started visiting months ago “Weekend Special…$39”. The website clearly announces “beginning at 4 pm on Friday”. In fact, I am posting this the following day and the website still shows the special is available.
When we began our order, we were told the special no longer exists (even though it is still clearly posted at the entrance and on the website).
The manager very rudely said, “It changed. We aren’t doing that until Saturday now. I know the sign hasn’t changed yet. I will get that changed.” We asked if we could still get the special as it is still posted at the door and on the website. He said, “No. I will not honor it.” He said he would check with the general manager at our request and returned saying “My decision has been made and the answer is no.”
It was too late to go elsewhere and we didn’t want to inconvenience our party after already driving so far, so we stayed.
Our poor waitress was given our large group alone and it was only her first week on the job. She did a fabulous job serving us.
The food was great, but the experience left us all with a bad taste in our mouths.
We were disappointed with the demeanor of the manager who could have said a simple, “I apologize for the inconvenience” or “I’m so sorry I am unable to honor your request”, but he was extremely abrupt and off putting. Sadly, we all agreed we would not be returning to our favorite restaurant after this incident.
Let’s start with the service- Our server Luis was the star of the show. He greeted us seconds after we were seated, and took great care of us. He made us feel at home. He was knowledgeable and his recommendations knocked it out of the park. The cozy atmosphere and lovely decor is a touch of class.
They serve complimentary chips with fresh pico, salsa roja, and crema. The chips are in incredible. We ate them so fast we couldn’t even get a picture. They also put down a container with six salsas, four of which are their own and I recommend trying them all. My favorites were the Iguana(super spicy) and the avocado salsa. We also had the queso blanco, and asked for it spicy. It was excellent!
For the entree, I went with Luis’ recommendations of the combo that came with a shrimp taco, chicken suiza enchilada, and beef tamale. You can choose your own as per your preferences, but these were his recommendations. They were all incredibly delicious and left me wanting more. The portions are large and packed with flavor.
If you’re ever in Bonita Springs, do not miss out on this. Be sure to ask for Luis, and you’ll leave with big smiles.
