The menu is extensive with lots of options.
I ordered the fried appetizer (15.95) which was three chicken strips, three onion rings, three mozzarella sticks and three stuffed jalapeño peppers. All of the items were obviously frozen and similar to what you can purchase at any supermarket so I will not recommend. Pricey at $15.95 as well. My husband ordered cheesy garlic bread which he said was very good.
For my entree, I ordered one of the day’s specials: Shepherd’s Pie (11.95). It was served with a decent green salad and a packet of salad dressing. The shepherds pie itself was ground beef, creamed corn, and mashed potatoes. Looked lovely and served hot. However, had I not ordered the appetizer, I doubt I would have found this entree satisfying on its own as it was a pretty small portion.
My husband ordered a meatball calzone which was enormous and he enjoyed very much.
The restaurant was very clean and the woman who waited on us was terrific.
From our visit, I’m left with the impression that they probably do a good job with sandwiches, pizzas and calzones on the vast menu but I am suspicious as to whether many of the offerings (like my fried appetizer) are prepared fresh or simply packaged food that they buy from their restaurant supplier and simply reheat here. I can’t say that my shepherd’s pie left me interested in trying anything else at the restaurant to test my theory.
I love the way the menu is set up. The eggs are like a chart. So you have one egg, 2 egg or 3 eggs across the top, and then you have the meats going down the side. You can pick any combination. I always order 3 eggs, but the third one is always like an extra egg. And here it’s actually on the menu, and it’s a reasonable price.
And, I ordered my eggs over medium and they were. I rarely get my eggs the way I order them.
Also, the number of sides they have available. If you don’t eat potatoes, there’s more than just home fries. You can get grits, a bowl of fruit, sliced tomatoes or sliced avocados. I chose the fresh fruit and let me tell you. It was fresh, it wasn’t a bowl of fruit in some kind of water or syrup or something. It was sliced banana, sliced strawberry, melon chunks and grapes. It was so good it was like they sliced it personally for me when I came in.
Overall, the food was great, but so was the service.
I don’t remember our servers name, but she was polite and quick. And I always forget to ask for my bacon crispy, and end up stuck with limp bacon. But when I requested bacon she actually asked “crispy or regular”, so I got it the way I like it. I’ve never had a server ask me that, she made my day.
I only gave the atmosphere a 4 because although it is very clean and bright, they could use some updates. (Like a new floor), If there was an option four 4.9, I would’ve done that.
I will definitely go back any chance I get.
