We decided to give this new restaurant a try because it was nearby our house. All was fine, food came out and was subpar but edible. I would say it was the lowest grade Chinese food I have had but I’m used to great food. But then midway through eating, we found a large cooked earwig in the food and it killed it for us. We couldn’t eat any more after that. Call us sensitive but we expect better quality from a dine in restaurant and shouldn’t just have to eat around that. We chose to pay for our food, tip the waitress still because she was nice and pack it up. We took it to go and gave it to a homeless person since it was a cold night. Pics showing what was left. I didn’t snap a photo of the bug because it was grossed out. Overall wouldn’t have come back even without the bug. But federal way isn’t exactly known for good food so I guess that’s why everyone else has rated it higher. I didn’t see it.

Was looking for a quick dinner and came across this place, not realizing it even existed and close by. We ordered for pick up right before they closed, and it is well worth it. The food is very flavorful and they give generous portions. I definitely recommend this place. I’m glad that there’s finally a great tasting Chinese restaurant around this area.

The food was great and the food proportions was more than enough for what I paid for especially for the Szechuan spicy fish and my wife got the Mongolian beef.
Price for the lunch specials was definitely worth it.
Atmosphere was great and clean. they can accomodate large groups of 10+

My family, boyfriend and I would frequent Magic Wok, the previous restaurant here for lunch specials or just dinner. I was surprised to see that they are now Szechuan Impression but looked at their menu online and saw that they offer similar offerings but expanded on their menu too! I love the additions of Szechuan dishes and they have a lot more spicy options too!
My boyfriend and I got a lunch special on May 12, I called to make a take out order and was put on a quick hold before getting my order taken by a nice, professional lady. I got the sliced fish delight lunch special while my boyfriend got the cashew chicken lunch special. We both got fried rice but I got hot and sour soup while he got egg flower soup. The food was ready at the estimated time of ten minutes. The inside according to my boyfriend has not changed and remains as it did when it was run by Magic Wok.
The food was seasoned much better than Magic Wok and the portions were definitely bigger. I really enjoyed the different types of vegetables in my dish and they used ginger and garlic too! My boyfriend was used to how Magic Wok used to make the cashew chicken but he said it was pretty good here too but just a little spicier for his taste. We are definitely looking forward to coming back to try more of their new and traditional dishes!

First Time Trying Szechuan Cuisine – Loved It!
I’ve always wanted to try authentic Szechuan food, and Szechuan Impression was the perfect place to start. I ordered the vegetarian Ma Po Tofu and asked the staff to recommend a traditional dish they chose the Chong Qing Chicken. When they asked how spicy I wanted it, I said “traditional,” and they definitely delivered!
The Ma Po Tofu was rich, spicy, and full of flavor, with that signature numbing kick from Szechuan peppercorns. I recommend getting a side of rice to go with it, it really brings the dish together.
The Chong Qing Chicken came out dry-style (different from some saucier versions I’ve seen online), but it was incredibly crispy, flavorful, and yes very spicy. The mountain of dried chilies may look intimidating, but it’s all part of the experience.
Out of curiosity, I mixed both dishes together it was intense, spicy, and surprisingly balanced. Definitely a memorable first taste of real Szechuan cuisine!

First time here with the new ownership. I had the dinner combo and it was good. I enjoyed it. Good price too. Ill be back to try some other menu items.
Aside from that, i suggest the main entrance area should have a small area for pick up orders and waiting only. Or maybe a pickup table. There are so many individual people just taking up all the seating waiting for their pickup order. So if you want to dine in, you have sit on the right side of the restaurant usually where large parties are at.

Absolutely loved our lunch at Szechuan Impression! We found this place through a Google search and as big fans of Sichuan cuisine, we decided to try it. I had the Szechuan Beef lunch special and my wife enjoyed the Sliced Fish with Pickled Pepper. Both dishes were very flavorful and delicious. Having lived in Chengdu, my wife even commented on how authentic her dish tasted, which speaks volumes! We were so impressed with the quality and taste that we’re already planning our next visit to try their individual dishes family style. Highly recommended for anyone craving genuine and delicious Sichuan food. Service was quick and the staff very polite. And for those who prefer American-style Chinese food, they have that too!

I was impressed by the quality considering the reasonable price but this is one of the better kept secrets of the area not only is it good but you get your money’s worth I’m absolutely planning on making this a regular lunch spot moving forward
