We were visiting the beach for a conference and were looking for a nice burger spot. This choice wasn’t not a disappointment at all, burgers were so much better than expected really delicious not to forget the fries with the brisket were equally delicious. If I have the chance to visit the beach I will definitely eat there again. Highly recommended if you’re in town

Great little spot. On the smaller side but that does not take away from this places vibe! They appears to have an interesting and vast selection of whiskey behind the bar. I had the Huntsman burger. Elk boar and wagyu. It was definitely a delicious burger. Also had the poutine. It’s was terrific. Brown gravy a fried egg and bacon dust everywhere! I also got the side of chili and it was amazing. A little spicier than I like but I’m not a big fan of spicy foods..All of the employees were helpful and in great spirits. Parking was the only issue with this place. We originally parked in a hotel lot across the street but we were told towing of cars is a huge issue in the area.. we found a public lot about a block over on 24th street. Great place great vibes and great food.

If you’re in town you must try Repeal. The menu is well cultivated. The appetizers were good! (Nachos and pretzels) The spicy nacho sauce was a must have. I also got the shrooms burger (caramelized onions and mushrooms and they let me customize it the way I wanted. Great service too. We were checked on regularly after our food came out. Great prices to match! Wish I could come back more often.

The food was amazing. We got three different kinds of burgers they were all delicious. Their prices are reasonable for VB. Their service could be a bit better, we didn’t really see our server that much. And the atmosphere is more of a bar, than burger/restaurant.

6ish years since we were at Repeal last. Classic burger and a share of the nachos were good. The whiskey sour was excellent. Service was so so. Started off great with the server taking our drink order and then our appetizer and food order and periodically came back to check on us while we were eating. When the meal was over it was a long time before someone came to present the bill. Overall food and drinks good, service not as much but we will eventually be back.

What a great spot!! We were not thrilled with our visit to VA Beach area in general, but this place was the definite highlight! The appetizers and burgers were fantastic, and the Old Fashioned was amongst the best I’ve ever had! The staff was amazing, super friendly and knowledgeable about Bourbon, just a joy to interact with and be served by.

Everything was phenomenal! From the cocktails, to the burgers!!! Their truffle mac n cheese is to die for!!! Great place for a datenight. The restaurant is small and gets busy fast but we didnt feel rushed and was able to enjoy ourselves. Our server/bartender was awesome!

Great burgers and drinks. Ordered the Silly Gringo and The Huntsman burger just kind of winging it since I’ve never had that patty combination of boar, bison, elk and wagyu and it turned out so good and juicy. Enjoyed the ambience too, wish we came a bit earlier so we could stay longer. 🙂

I was a little apprehensive coming over here for dinner on Tuesday night; I was in town for a brief business trip and Virginia Beach in November is not an ideal situation in many ways. Most of the places I walked by were closed for the season (understandably so) and/or were basically just cheap, crappy boardwalk stuff. When I got to the door of Repeal, there was a sign literally warning me that I wasn’t going to find pizza or similar food on the premises. Honestly? Felt better immediately and walked in.

This was a very comfortable bar/restaurant. It’s pretty tiny though I imagine in warmer weather it’s a little better in that regard with the addition of the outdoor seating area. The bartender told me I could sit at one of the empty tables or at the bar, and I chose the latter. Pretty busy in there – I think it was about 5:30pm or so. Looked to be a solid mix of locals and visitors, which wasn’t too surprising given the limited options in the area.

Bourbon is in the name of this establishment, so that was my first stop. This was the first time I’ve encountered a build your own Old-Fashioned section of a menu, but I certainly hope it’s not the last. I opted for one featuring Angel’s Envy, and my bitters selection (yes, you had that option as well) was the bartender’s specific recommendation, Elemakule Tiki, or cinnamon/all spice. Honestly delicious on all fronts. If I hadn’t had to be a grownup wearing a blazer the next morning, that might have been a multiple cocktail situation. Really hit the spot on a nippy evening.

It felt important to order some sustenance as well, so I got a plain Huntsman (elk, boar, wagyu and bison patty) with a side of truffle mac and cheese. Honestly, this is where they lost me a little. In what to me is a self-inflicted wound, they’ve made the choice to utilize pre-made frozen patties. And you can tell. I got what I assume is considered the highest standard burger patty they have and it was just okay. A little too greasy and not as flavorful as you’d want from a quality piece of cattle. A bit disappointing; for a restaurant that does go out of its way to promote its gastropub vibes, this feels like a very obvious fix to me. The truffle mac was in the same genre and the top layer of cheese was a little rubbery. Hard to go wrong overall with the truffle flavor though. I do want to make it clear – the food wasn’t bad but you expect better when you walk in, especially given the attention they’ve paid to the whiskey.

The service was excellent. As mentioned, the bartender gave me a great bitters recommendation and every staff member I interacted with was attentive and stopped by regularly to check in on me. There were a lot of conversations nearby that indicated I was not getting special treatment in that regard, unquestionably a good thing. The price point was super competitive as well; I think the drink was actually cheaper than the burger, which is not typical for my experiences, but the total cost was in the $30s – really not bad at all.

A definite recommend, especially given its nearby, pretty much non-existent competition. This would be pretty much perfect if the food was as good as the Old-Fashioned. Hopefully the burgers become made to order in the near future.

Bourbon selection and brussels are fantastic.

Would give 4 or 5 star, but its kind of a hassle getting here since there is zero legal parking. So factor in a game of mini golf or buying a sprite from wendys so that you can park near here and walk on over.
