Fantastic restaurant in downtown Santa Fe! Wonderful local chef and family proving a top-notch dining experience. Food is delicious with lovely presentation. Great wine list and fabulous cocktail menu as well. We enjoyed a seasonal heirloom salad along with focaccia, lobster & scallop cannelloni, a roasted chicken and lemon cake. A true delight! Don’t miss this gem in Santa Fe.

I have a feeling that as amazing as our dinner was, it would have been just as amazing if we had ordered completely differently. The drink menu was exotic (or odd depending on your viewpoint), so I opted for a neat tequila (they only had one kind, Sundown? Never had it. Delicious) and beautiful heavy cab sauv/syrah blend. We started with a incredible beet salad with goat cheese and granola. Definitely large enough to share. I had the veggie dumplings served in a coconut milk sauce which was out of this world (perhaps a bit too much bok choy… how much bok choy can you eat?). Still, my wife’s fish special was the hit of the evening. Mahi baked in a red adobo sauce, and the rice had a green adobo sauce. Splendid! We finished the night off sharing a English toffee pudding with a wonderful scoop of ice cream on top. The literal definition of decadent. Thanks to Cheyenne (sp?) and all the staff at the bar for making my bday special! That’s two years in a row we’ve come down and you’ve nailed it!

Category: Fine Food. Both visitors and locals love this restaurant, no matter what it is. We dined there for many years in its prior incarnation as an Italian restaurant. Since Covid, it has been Horno and the owners are doing a great job serving what they call fine food, not fine dining. In fact, I adopted Fine Food as a review category after having a conversation with one of the owners a couple of years ago. The space is simple, off-white walls with hints of Santa Fe architectural elements, beamed ceiling in one of the two dining rooms, a few pieces of well-placed original art, and a short wall-facing bar. The design is pulled together by a hardwood plank floor that has seen many boots over many years. If you read my reviews, you know I spend as much — if not more — time describing restaurants’ atmosphere as I do discussing the food. That’s because I won’t dine anywhere that I don’t feel good. I feel good here. The owners call this place a gastropub. I think the food and the atmosphere are a bit finer than that, but I agree that it is a comfortable place. The wine list has enough under-$60 bottles to make us happy, and one bottle under $40, which makes us really happy. The menu is an eclectic mix of dishes, from a burger that once won Santa Fe’s famous annual Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown, to a couple of Italian-sih dishes, to Bouillabaisse (for 2), to a couple of Asian-ish dishes. On our most recent visit, we sat at the bar, as we often do, and really enjoyed the Korean BBQ Beef Short Ribs and the Dumplings. Although the latter were vegetarian, we added shrimp. But the highlight of this dish was the really delicious lemon grass, coconut, kaffir lime broth. It was so good we took the remaining broth home even though we had eaten all the goodies in it. If you are looking for al fresco dining, there is a line of covered tables on either side of the entrance and sidewalk umbrellaed tables added during Covid that seem to have become permanent. All dog friendly. We have also attended rent-out-the-restaurant parties at Horno, where they do a great job with passed appetizers, food stations, and bringing you a glass of wine even though you moved since ordering it. We had the most incredible dining experience, 10/10 recommend. We were visiting from CO and were determined to have a date night (with baby in tow). After finally getting out of the hotel, we made it to the restaurant. The staff were immediately extremely accommodating and seemed genuinely happy to have our baby in the restaurant (definitely not a universal experience when you walk into a restaurant with a newborn). The service was amazing, everyone we interacted with was very friendly and professional and the food was absolutely delicious. We are so grateful to have had such a wonderful date night and to have been shown such kindness and generosity by strangers.

Had the most memorable and incredible night here at Horno Restaurant. I took my boyfriend out for a lovely evening to celebrate Valentines and had the opportunity to meet and chat with the owners and their friend. Heather, one of the owners, was incredibly hospitable with each guest and ourselves. Her friend Kelly was so funny and kind, she has my boyfriend and I convinced on moving to Santa fe. We will be eating here every single time we come to Santa fe.
Now the food, yall the food was sooo freakin delicious I was about to cry, I need to try everything on their menu, the Chef did a fantastic job and after tonights dinner Im reminded of the blessing it is to enjoy a delicious meal.

Came here with a group of 16 people and we got a private table in the main room.
Good:
– Overall the variety of food was really good and the meatball appetizer was super good it came with really grilled bread and a really tasty sauce.
– The vegetable dumplings had a really savory and sweet sauce that I enjoyed greatly
– The main dish was great but not my favorite compared to the appetizers and the other things that they offered since it was a lot of steak and some of it just was super dry.
Bad:
– The place was pretty simple, nothing too fancy even in the main living room
– I found the cocktails to be a little too sweet
– The creme brulee was too sweet for me I took two bites then gave up
Overall this was a good experience I liked how much food we got and I was stuffed by the end of the meal.

Great service from the moment we entered. Server was attentive, but not intrusive, food was outstanding, cocktails delicious. Started with the tuna tartare, which was fresh and lemony. Better half had the grilled hangar steak on romesco, I had the pork chop on a bed of couscous with spring vegetables and preserved lemons. Both were delicious, but would probably choose the hanger steak next time. Vibe is casual, not pretentious, but they are serious about what they serve. Just a wonderful experience.

This is a gem. Truly. Small. Intimate without being noisy. The food is spectacular. We had reservations for a Saturday night. We were seated right away. Our server recommended the special which was a sea trout. With couscous. We both opted for that as our entrees and I didn’t disappoint. Perfectly cook fish. We had the focaccia as a starter and the burata salad. Outstanding. The focaccia was the best I’ve had. We opted for an apple pastry with Ice cream for dessert. One of the best meals we have had in awhile. Make a reservation and go.

Hubby wanted to try something different from Mexican food for dinner. So we decided to try this highly-rated local restaurant.
The friendly hostess was very welcoming & sat us despite us not having a reservation but we were given 1hr 15mins since they have a reservation for that table at 7:45pm. I thought it was so sweet of them instead of just chasing us away but informed us ahead of time so we’re aware.
The restaurant has a very relaxing classy ambiance. It seems very popular among both locals & tourists, but we stood out as the only Asians there.
We ordered hanger steak and squid ink pasta. The hanger steak was so tender, juicy and well flavored. The cognac sauce was amazing, perfectly paired with the steak. I love the colorful presentation of the squid ink pasta but it was so sour! I think the chef went too heavy on the lemon sauce! ☹️
Our waitress (a tall lady with black frame glasses) was friendly at first contact but we realized she was pretty discriminating towards us throughout the night. She never introduced today’s specials, she never refilled our water, she never came to our table to check on us, like she did with other tables! She’ll walk past our tables several times but only focus on other tables around us but ignored us. Never felt so neglected! Even when we were ready to get the check, we waved many times but she never looked our way! We had to get the bus-boy to go get our waitress for us! I was ready to try their dessert, but she never asked if we were interested to order dessert after we finished our meal. She just handed an our check.
I didn’t like that my pasta tasted so sour with overdosed of lemon. I sat there waiting for her to come by but she never did. I had to wave down our waitress several times. When she finally came by, I told her about the pasta and all she said was “that’s weird!” ♀️ I didn’t know how to respond to her comment. So I asked if I can get more cognac sauce so I can eat my pasta with the sauce since she didn’t offer to make a new one or allow me to order something else. I was very surprised at such a bad service for such an high-end restaurant! We have dined at many high-end restaurants but never been treated this way before!

Came to Horno last year for dinner and had to come back on our last night just to get the pop tart. SO delicious! Located near fun shops, great atmosphere, tasty food. My only qualm from last year is that the portions for the price didn’t quite add up. Would return for sure!
