This looks nothing like the pictures on the website. Fried almost black. The meat is so dry. Choking the chicken down. 1st time customer and really bummed out. Mac n cheese is delicious.

I ordered through doordash. Wanted to edit from 3 stars to 2 as I’m not feeling very good after finishing the food.
I ordered the 2 piece combo with Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes for the side as well as hot honey and the chicken dipper sauce.
The food was okay. I ordered dark meat but still received a breast. The chicken didn’t have much flavor to it but the crunch was good and it wasn’t too greasy which was nice.
The mashed potatoes could’ve had a little more gravy but was surprisingly really good.
The Mac was creamy with a white cheese base and 1 believe some jalapeños which added a nice kick.
The hot honey was good but I didn’t like the chicken dipper sauce at all. It didn’t really have any flavor besides a bitterness from the pepper used.
The portion is very fair for the price. The freshness was good as well, nothing tasted old.
Overall wouldn’t order again as nothing blew me away but I’m glad to have tried it.
ps: Came with tortillas and pico which was very strange but they were okay

It sucks so much to leave this rating but I was beyond disappointed yesterday after buying $60 worth of food. The menu has changed and no longer has all of the amazing soul dishes it had before. I gave it a try any way since I was short on time.
When we opened the container for the Mac and cheese you couldn’t even tell it had cheese on it and there were little chili peppers throughout. The vegetable mix was dry, no flavor at all, and those incredible truffle fries are not just ghosts of their former glory.
Someone said that the restaurant that Michael’s is located in wanted him to take a more “Latin” approach.
Michael’s soul food was some of the best in the city hands down and I miss the collards and REAL baked Mac and cheese with a layer of cheese broiled on the top.
I can’t go back unless they revert back.
Michael himself is a wonderful guy and deserves all praise for what he has built but this new menu is AWFUL

First time eating here. Really good tenders and Mac and cheese. Seems fresh and seasoned well.
The only problem is I work 4 blocks from this place and never knew they existed. They’re located inside another restaurant. Not a terrible idea but think they could do a better job advertising or at least putting out a sign. Looks like they’ve been there for over a year. Without google I would’ve never found them.

Got door dash 10 piece. Got 2 breasts, 2 thighs, 4 legs, 2 wings. Was thrilled with a collard green option but they were so salty I couldn’t eat them. Chicken was a little salty too. Loved the pepper chicken gravy and mashed potatoes! Will try again and go for cole slaw or Mac n cheese.

WOW! I moved back to MN from St Louis last summer and have been missing local southern fried chicken. Tonight I had Michaels and dayummmmm it’s good! Chicken strips were crunchy yet not greasy. Lots of seasonings but not too salty! Potatoes and gravy was delicious!
