The moment, we saw the most majestic decoration we have ever seen in a restaurant. The vibe was other worldly. When we were walking to our table, we could smell some unbelievably good smells coming from the kitchen. After we sat down, they brought to us an extensive menu, with an insane variety and selection of foods. The service was not particularly, but the food more than made up for it. The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection, and they even put on a little show for us with fire. The staff was very kind, helpful, and funny. The dessert menu was also extensive, and there were so many different types of crepes. The crepes were some of the best crepes we have ever eaten, and they were amazing. So full of flavor! The bathrooms were also clean, and the music playing was definitely a nice touch. Overall unbelievable experience, the vibe was outstanding, and would definitely recommend.

This place was outstanding. They actually have two locations in the main strip. The first and what I assume is the original was full for our party of 15, so they walked us down to the other location, 1-2 minute walk. It’s equally beautiful and I cannot say enough about how friendly the staff was and the food is amazing!!

The most fantastic place in whole Costa Rica! The food was exceptional, staff was very friendly and it had great atmosphere. We ate the best ceviche in our life. Prawn, salmon and tuna were fantastic! We loved it and would definitely recommend this place! While we had our dinner, people were waiting in line, and we would say it is worth waiting. We loved it here!

I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. The service was incredible. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is amazing. It was so good that we went back two nights in a row. Our server was called Jimmy and he was phenomenal. Very attentive to our needs and delivered exceptional service. Really good prices made the whole experience even better. A must visit restaurant if you’re going to La fortuna! 🙂

Restaurante Fortuneño is conveniently located in town, making it an easy stop while walking around. It was quite crowded, but we only had about a 5-minute wait.
We ordered veggie nachos, a quinoa bowl, veggie enchiladas, and chicken rice. The food was decent for the price. The ambiance was good and very lively. We parked on the street without any issues.
Overall, it’s a decent option, especially for vegetarians.

Loved this place so much, I went twice during my trip to La Fortuna! Had the tropical ceviche which was so fresh and yummy and a generous helping for one. And then had the ribs combo the second time which were good too (fried plantains were amazing).
There was a long line the first night I was there so be aware there may be a wait!

Amazing experience at El Fortuneño – La Fortuna!
The food was delicious, fresh, and full of authentic Costa Rican flavor. But what really made the visit special was the outstanding service — Jimmy and Carlos were amazing! They were friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome from start to finish. The atmosphere is relaxed, the portions are generous, and the prices are fair.
If you’re in La Fortuna and want great local food with exceptional service, El Fortuneño is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!

Best enchilada I’ve ever had (haven’t had that many in my lifetime) it was vegetarian with green sauce, jalapeños on top. Delicious. Also the fried cauliflower and broccoli were extremely good. This Sol beer is very refreshing too

Great place to eat with kids. We have been here a couple of times. The food is really good, the service is great, and they have a kids’ playground so you can have your meal in peace. We ordered the combo #8, but everything in here is delicious. Highly recommended for family and if you’re in La Fortuna.

TLDR; great atmosphere, amazing sea bass, average enchiladas, and the kind of staff you actually appreciate. I’d come back, but hoping they tighten up the seating and show a little more love to the veggie dishes.
Details: Loved the vibe here—super lively, cozy lighting, feels like a spot you want to hang out in for a while. Only downside was getting a table. The seating process is kind of all over the place, so you end up waiting without really knowing what’s happening. Not a deal-breaker, just a little chaotic.
Food-wise, it was a mixed bag. The Queen Sea Bass was so good — perfectly cooked, rich, salty in the best way. I’d come back just for that dish alone. The vegetarian enchiladas… not so much. They came out cold and tasted just okay, like something that could’ve been great if the kitchen slowed down for a second.
The staff were honestly awesome. Super friendly, easy to talk to, and made the night feel fun even with the hiccups.
