We had such a lovely experience. From the moment we walked in, we were met with genuine kindness, charm, and a feeling that we were truly welcome. Even though the bar was full, there was this wonderful, almost family-like energy — not just from the staff, but from the patrons too. Everyone seemed invested in making sure we were comfortable and taken care of, which says so much about the culture of this place.
The atmosphere was made even more special by live piano music, which we later learned was played by the owner — an incredibly charming touch that elevated the entire evening. The wine was excellent, thoughtfully curated, and very reasonably priced, making it easy to relax and enjoy the moment without feeling rushed or upsold.
Fortunate Glass feels like one of those rare places where hospitality is sincere, the vibe is warm, and you leave feeling better than when you arrived. We’ll absolutely be back!

We came in around 7:50pm excited to explore new places in wilmington, as this is our first time visiting. The bartender immediately was passive aggressive telling us “we’d have a few minutes for a drink”. We had looked previously and saw they closed at 9pm. I really wish she was kinder because the wine and atmosphere were great but she made us feel rushed… and wine is not a drink to be chugged. She was friendly and tone of voice was nice but being reminded twice of being closed down by 8:30 wasn’t the best feeling. Especially considering her friendliness with what seemed to be a regular guest.

Fortunate Glass has become one of our favorite spots downtown. It’s cozy and has that tucked-away charm that’s perfect for date night, small groups, or simply enjoying a glass of wine. The ambiance is always warm and inviting, and the wine list is fantastic .. interesting selections, great value, and the team always knows what to recommend. We’ve loved it every time we’ve gone.

Such a lovely place. Cozy and intimate. I had the best crème brûlée I’ve ever tasted here. The berry chutney that came with it was to die for. My husband had the Cuban sandwich and said it was amazing. We look forward to coming back!
