We went to Mama D’s for chocolate gravy and biscuits while visiting Ashland City. Mama D’s chocolate gravy close to my uncle’s.. My husband had the vegetable omelette and a biscuit with tomato gravy. I was thrilled they served Pepsi products.
Grace, our waitress, did the best she could considering she was also the cashier. They all worked well together and helped each other given the large crowd.
The atmosphere took me back to mom and pop restaurants which served as community gossip spit. I thoroughly enjoyed eavesdropping on two ladies discussing Adam and Eve. I even got a new perspective on that story.
If you’re craving grandma’s breakfast and small town atmosphere, I recommend Mama D’s.

The servers here have a habit of forgetting about me. They bring me a water and then never come back to the table. I sat here on my most recent visit and watched them take orders and deliver food to tables that came in after me before they even took my order. The food is actually decent, but it seems like “regulars” get preferential treatment and served first. This has happened to me multiple times, not just once.

Driving through Ashland City to Franklin. Found Mama D’s simply Googling breakfast in AC.
Phenomenal. Seriously. The absolute best biscuits we have ever had.
Got the #4-biscuts and gravy with one meat. Choose bacon. Was not disappointed.
Biscuits were buttery and light. If you come here, a must order. You won’t be disappointed.
Sounds extreme, but the best breakfast we can remember. And we travel a lot.

I had a very disappointing experience at Mamma D’s in Ashland City. Our server was extremely rude and disrespectful to my blended family, and the way we were treated felt discriminatory and deeply upsetting. When I brought my concerns to the owner, I was told that this server had already been “an issue.” That response made the situation even worse—if this behavior is already known, why is it still being allowed?
No family should have to feel uncomfortable, singled out, or unwelcome while trying to enjoy a meal. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.

My husband & I have lived in Ashland City for several years, but had never been to Mama D’s. Now that it is open for dinner, we gave it a try. Last week (our 1st visit) I had a delicious grilled cheese on sourdough bread, & my husband had the Reuben. He said it was the best Reuben he’d ever had! This week I got the Western burger, (which is honestly maybe the best burger I’ve ever had) & my husband had the biscuits & sausage gravy… which he said was better than his own mom’s! I’m so glad we discovered Mama D’s! It will definitely be on our regular rotations of restaurants 🙂

Don’t come here unless you’re okay waiting for a ridiculously long time for someone to get your drink order, your food order and for someone to even come by and say hi to you. Unfortunately we never got to eat because we waited so long that we just got up to leave because no one ever approached us to even say hi or get our drinks. The atmosphere is like an old bar that was never updated. There was plenty of waitstaff and I even heard the young girl with black hair say that she saw us but we would be fine just waiting. Do not recommend to anyone.
