Drinks were good. Enjoyed the charcuterie – came with selection of meats & pickles (no cheese fyi). The steak frites was good. Duck confit was delicious – smaller portion size. Reservation for 2 – booth style seating next to each other with small cafe table. Worked for us watch out for older parties 🙂

Always a good time at Royal Boucherie! The food and flavors are incredible. The beet salad is always so fresh and tasty! The onion soup is my favorite and one of the best in the city… if not THE BEST! They have an amazing bar with interesting and delicious cocktails too! The staff are friendly and easygoing while also super personable. The place has a beautiful ambiance and the perfect place for date night or even just a solo brunch!

A dark ambiance! Stopped in for a drink and dessert! The wine selection was very expansive and the food menu looked great! The crème brûlée was very tasty, the sugar too was perfectly cooked, the custard was pleasant and dense. The French fries with garlic aioli were incredible to snack on! Will definitely come back for more dishes!

I wanted to try French cuisine while visiting Philadelphia, so I made a reservation at Royal Boucherie, a long-standing French restaurant in the heart of Old City. It did not disappoint. The escargot and moules royale (mussels) I ordered were both excellent. The escargot came in a sauce with lovely, deep flavor, while the mussels were served in a saffron white wine sauce that was equally delightful. Both dishes were paired with lightly toasted slices of baguette, which complemented them perfectly.

My wife had the onion soup and the breakfast sandwich, both of which were very good. The ambiance was splendid as well, with all the warmth and charm of a true French bistro.

Walking into the restaurant you are greeted with a very French style theme which starts from the music and extends all the way to the general decor. It makes you feel as if you’re in a cute French bistro that’s run by chefs that smoke way too much and has a waiter that’s probably too rude to handle, but here the chefs are extremely nice and the waiters are super nice. I got the liver mousse and the escargot which were both full of flavor and cooked to perfection. However I will note the bread that comes with both dishes has some pretty inconsistent quality which is why I give it a 9 instead of a 10. The first serving of bread(is it a baguette?) was the essential equivalent of eating croutons, the second serving was soft and warm, and the third serving was hard and warm. Overall this made eating a pretty painful experience for the mouth. For the main course I ordered the trout almandine, and also the duck confit. Both were absolutely amazing! The way everything is plated is beautiful and the flavors are so complex but easily noticable! You can poke around the plate and find a bunch of different flavors. You can even mix some of the flavors together like the fats and grains to make your own combination. Overall I’d definitely recommend this restaurant!

Good food, slow service. We were there early Sunday, not very busy, plenty of wait staff on hand, slow service. The atmosphere seemed good and the establishment was well maintained.

Choose this place at random for a quick lunch, and was happily surprised how lovely of a time I had! The food was served promptly and the waiters were wonderfully attentive. The day was nice, so they had the doors open to let in a nice cooling breeze. The vibes were immaculate. The pomme aligot was creamy mashed potatoes with gruyere cheese and garlic. They are hands down the best mashed potatoes I have ever had! The texture of the potatoes was perfect, and it was an even balance of potato and cheesy with just a hint of garlic to bring up the flavor. My dining partner had the omelet and stated that it was delicious. They also got themselves a plate of haricot verts and were surprised at the addition of shallots to the dish. They ended up loving it! The waiter also gave us a water bottle and glasses so we could refill our own water glasses as we wished. Even the water was fantastic. This will definitely be a restaurant we return to the next time we are in the city!

10s across the board! The service was stunning, they were so kind, very attentive and very intentional when it came to considering alcohol free guest during my birthday toast. It made all the difference to myself and my friends. The food was amazing I had the duck confit, the onion soup and the macaroni gratin, all three were amazing and my friends were happy with their dishes as well.

All in all an amazing experience and truly wonderful staff. I’ll be back ♥️

Food NOT worth the price. My husband and I went out for dinner. This is what we had:
1. We shared a fromage board – the cheese wasn’t fresh, the bread was bland and pretty sure they toasted already stale bread. Barely any jams/honey on the board. The fruit didn’t taste fresh.
2. My husband had the duck confit. It was decent, nothing to write home about.
3. I had the crab cakes. The crab was not fresh and it tasted like it had been sitting out. The sauce overpowered everything and had a funky taste to it. The side of corn and pepper that came with it, I don’t know what they were going for, but it tasted like more of a Latin cuisine rather than French. It was not a compliment to the dinner.
4. We shared the macaroni gratin. We are positive there was something that had gone bad with the cheese. We know French cheese, we know French cuisine and this cheese tasted like if we kept eating more, we would have became ill.
4. We shared the crème brûlée for dessert. It was mediocre at best.

Overall, $172 later and we are extremely disappointed with the food. Only giving 2 stars since the waiter was friendly and the atmosphere was cute. Steer clear of this place if you’re looking for FRESH food in general. I would not call this good French cuisine or good cuisine on its own. Go somewhere in NYC or to Rat’s restaurant in NJ for a closer option if you’re in the Philly area.
