KUMO: Home
There’s quite a helping of nominally Japanese restaurants in Western New York. Most of them offer practically identical menus: sushi, sushi rolls, dumplings and …

My husband and I took my parents and son out for Christmas dinner to Kumo. At first service started out slow, but they were busy so I wasn’t upset at all, plus it is Christmas I cannot be upset on this day. Once our waitress came and took our orders, service was impeccable and tentative. We got a variety of food from various apps, teriyaki, hibachi, sushi, handmade rolls, and saki. All I can say is the food was exceptional. The presentation was beautiful. I definitely say if you want great food with a friendly staff, please give them a try as you won’t be disappointed.

We were halfway through our meal and already discussing our return to Kumo. Everything we had was absolutely delicious! The sushi was fresh and made very well. Our waitress was welcoming, friendly, and very gracious. We can’t wait to return to Kumo!

We went for lunch today. Ordered lunch specials which run Monday -Saturday, the shrimp and vegetable tempura bento box, and the steak hibachi. Both were great!

Awesome food, service and price! I highly recommend this Japanese place. Sushi was fresh and delicious and dinner portions were delicious but alot of food. Drinks are great and my hubby had a Takara Chu’hi. It was a lemon fresh Japanese cocktail in a can, but tasted great! Service is the very best!

First of all, the young lady who greeted me was very friendly and very welcoming. I ordered the shrimp hibachi and the shrimp was good size very fresh and plentiful maybe 10 or so with El Dante vegetables which is so important and great to have that slight crunch and the rice was interesting. It was a brown rice With maybe some onion in it a very satisfying meal!

Kumo Asian Cuisine is basically the Notre Dame Fighting Irish of sushi spots — elite, tradition-rich, but with just enough “why did we run that play?” moments to keep things interesting.
The sushi? Strong offensive line. Rolls hit harder than a Jeremiah Love stiff-arm. The spicy tuna roll came out looking like CJ Carr just threw a perfect spiral into soy sauce. But then — bam — my miso soup arrived lukewarm. That’s a Brian VanGorder-level defensive breakdown.
Service? Solid, but occasionally felt like a third-down play call against Miami — a little slow to develop. Still, when my sushi boat hit the table, it was like the 1988 championship all over again: dominance, glory, and a victory lap around the soy sauce dish.
Why not five stars? Because just like Notre Dame football, I can’t give them the championship crown until they finish the job.
Overall, Kumo is playoff-caliber. Great food, fun vibes, and a place that proves sushi and hibachi can be as elite as Notre Dame on a Saturday in South Bend. “Play like a champion today,” but bring your wallet — they don’t take gold helmets as payment.

Pleasantly surprised. First time visited. Chefs take great pride in sushi preparation. Sushi and steak teriyaki was fantastic. They bring honor to Japanese cuisine. I shall return.

The food presentation here is top-notch, everything looks as good as it tastes. The dim lighting creates a cozy, relaxing vibe that makes the whole experience feel elevated. The waitresses are super friendly and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Definitely recommend.

We waited a long time for an opening and it was SO worth the wait! We did not dine in (but we will next time for sure), but the take out was PHENOMENAL! Great sushi, great apps, and if we had known about the other dishes available (website not fully up yet) we would have ordered more. Welcome to Kenmore Kumo! We will be back often.

this Japanese restaurant delivered excellence on every level. The ambiance is warm, elegant, and perfect for a relaxing dinner or a special occasion. The staff was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel like honored guests.
The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We tried the sushi platter, and it was some of the freshest, most delicately prepared sushi we’ve ever had. The miso soup was rich and comforting, You can truly taste the quality and craftsmanship in every bite.
This place is a gem, and I honestly can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates top-tier Japanese cuisine and impeccable service.
