We started with the fried mozzarella, which didn’t have a ton of flavor. The mushrooms were the best part of the dish and were bursting with garlicky goodness, but the fried cheese was just somewhat there. My husband and I both got the gnocchi dishes, and while the cherry tomato sauce on mine was pretty good, my husband’s bolognese did not impress. The sauce tasted very much like something we’d get back in the US. The gnocchi itself was almost polenta-like. In terms of our second course, the tuna just wasn’t to my taste. While I’ve had seared tuna before, this was cut very thick so the texture was unpleasant, and the herb mix in the crust and vegetables was just overpowering. My husband’s sea bass was pretty good according to him.
In general, this just wasn’t for us. The service was attentive, but to be honest, bordered on a little too insistent on trying to get us to order alcoholic drinks. I will say they were wanting to make sure we were happy with our food, and when seeing I didn’t have a lot of the tuna, were willing to prepare something else. But the vibe was just off for both me and my husband, so we left for some gelato on our way back to our hotel. All in all, go in with appropriate expectations. I’d probably give this place a 3.5 if I could, but 4/5 feels fair based on our taste and experience.
