We went here per the recommendation of our tour guide, who also happened to be the owner. I really wanted to like the place, but the food was a disappointment. I had the baked potato soup, which had little flavor and was not creamy. Also had the salmon spread with pita chips. Pita chips were puffy, not crisp and the salmon spread tasted more like cream cheese than salmon spread. The waffle dessert just completed the trifecta of letdown. Needless to say, I’d explore other options in Sitka before coming back here again.

Had the bagel with locally caught spread and it was good – soft bagel and the spreas was subtle. The hot choloate was just ok (tasted like powdered chocolate drink). My friends were disappointed with the coffee too.

No bathroom.

This place is absolute wonderful for food and excursions. You will not be disappointed. We paid more in Juneau but happier with everything in Sitka. Great customer service that is hard to find this day and time!!! We were looking for something to do in Sitka while on a cruise and reached out to bumble excursions. I called and had to leave a message and Sara actually called back. We talked for literally an hour about EVERYTHING. She IS Wonderful!! Brett and Cole did a fabulous job taking us on a land and water excursion of Sitka. Love to go back because of This wonderful company. Sara is fantastic!! Can’t say enough how wonderful misfit cafe and bumble excursions were!

Absolutely a hidden gem in the busy Sitka community. Tourists are missing out. I walked Main Street looking for a place to eat a peaceful lunch. If you’re looking for a decent meal without all the hustle and bustle then this is your the right spot.

The menu is fantastic. The chicken salad wrap is the best I’ve ever had. Nice fresh ingredients. It was so good I ordered a second. Heck, even a little boy saw me eating and told his grandma “I want what he’s having”. Smart boy!

The ice cream , two scoops, with all the fixings was spectacular. Don’t miss it! I shouldn’t have eaten it, but what the hell, I was on vacation.

The owner is a very friendly lady. We sat and chatted about the area and how she and her husband made Sitka home. The staff is a great team.

The owner also runs Bumble Expeditions. I wish I’d have known of the establishment before hand. If you’re looking for a professional and personal tour guide this is the place to book. Saw them work with several visitors to tailor their Sitka experience and ensure it was memorable.

Don’t miss Misfit Island Cafe and Bumble Expeditions.

I really wanted to love this space. We visited for a coffee pick-me-up while walking around in town. It’s a nice walk to this area with a ton of shops, historic elements, and food options. We just ordered coffee which tasted so burnt, the cream and sugar couldn’t help it much. The staff seemed more focused on messing around with each other and joking than focusing on work. It was busy when we were there, but waiting almost 20 minutes for 2 coffees is a bit much. I don’t know if they needed more staff or just more focused staff. I would recommend trying somewhere else local.

We visited Sitka in May and as a self-confessed “foodie” (and also to complicate matters a coeliac), I was apprehensive about the options in town. Over the course of 5 days there, we ate in many places and this place by far stood out for a few reasons. Firstly, the staff were so friendly not just about our order etc but generally chatting with customers and generating a welcoming feel where it was easy to interact with others without it feeling awkward at all. This led to us getting some great insider travel tips from both staff and other costumers who were happy to join in the general friendliness.
Secondly; proper good coffee! Simple as that.
Third and most importantly; the food! We absolutely devoured our breakfast. I was delighted that the home-made fresh baked blueberry lemon scones were actually gluten free. So was the oat milk! (Coeliacs…you get it!)
We ended up returning here 3 more times and it became our go-to meeting point and our re-set & re-charge point of comfort after some intense days hiking.

Visited Misfit Island cafe on July 17 2025. All staff were super helpful and very friendly. Coffee was great but the gluten free pastry was outstanding, and the cookie with chocolate chip and alaskan sea salt was sublime! Highly recommended.

My husband and I ordered nachos and the ravioli. The food was tasty, but $21 for a total of 4 ravioli didn’t feel like a particularly good value for money, even for Sitka.

Wonderful little lunch and coffee spot just a few blocks from where our cruise ship bus dropped us off. Friendly staff, clean and fast! Don’t pass it up if you’re looking for a nice place to rest and eat.

I arrived in Sitka a few days ago, and the Misfit Island Café has quickly become my favorite spot! Starting my day with a delicious cup of coffee, a blueberry lemon gluten-free scone, and a warm smile is pure heaven. After hiking, shopping, or enjoying a tour (Bumble Expeditions is the best),a warm bowl of creamy potato soup, pita bread, and a sandwich hits the spot. My top picks are Papa Dave’s Fave (roasted turkey and Gouda with a hint of spice) and Sara’s Salmon Melt (smoked Alaskan salmon and melted cheddar). The best part is they treat you like family which goes a long way when traveling.
