WoW, We stopped in for lunch. Got the smoked mullet dinner (lunch portion wasn’t available). It was about a pound of fish and two sides. The mullet was enough for two people real Smokey (yum) and very flavorful (be careful bones) with potato salad and coleslaw. Had a draft beer to wash it down. We were all satisfied with our meals. I kinda wish they had a little bit bigger selection (fish sandwiches etc).
I would recommend this restaurant.

If you’re looking for a classic Old Florida lunch, this spot in St. Pete absolutely delivers. I’d heard about Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish for years but never made it in, now that I finally did, it’s officially on my must-visit list every time I’m in the area.
The smoked fish is outstanding, some of the best I’ve ever had, and it actually has me hunting down Florida Red Oak wood so I can try to recreate those flavors at home. The food is great, the service is friendly, and the vibe is exactly what you want from a old school Florida institution.
There’s a small indoor dining area, a patio, and ice-cold beer, which just makes everything better. And with a restaurant that’s been around for 50+ years, you know they’re doing something right.
Heads up: it’s cash only, so make sure you come prepared. It’s usually busy when I stop by, but it’s always worth the wait.
If you want an authentic, old-school Florida smoked seafood experience, this place should be at the top of your list.

I had been coming here for years with my family. We moved further away and haven’t visited for some time. My wife and I were in the area today and stopped by. It was just like old times. Amazing food, great service and amazing memories. They even take credit cards now. That’s how long it’s been. Can’t wait to come back. The smoked mullet dinner is a great value for the amount of food served. I’m glad to see that nothing much has changed and the food is still amazing.

While on holidays in St. Petes Beach we stopped for a late lunch. Restaurant is located on the side of a busy road so you need to be ok with noise. I had the Manhattan Clam Chowder as an appetizer which comes with a tomato base. Decent flavour but not as good as the traditional white base. For my main I ordered the Smoked Fish Spread Sandwich. Only available on white bread, prefer whole wheat or multi grain but gave it a chance. You could tell the fish spread was freshly made and had really good flavor overall. The sandwich also comes with a large pickle. Server was pleasant and brought refills without asking.

We’ve been going to Ted Peters for years and the lunch never disappoints. You can’t really go wrong with any fish, and the fish dip is divine. I would also highly recommend the root beer! The portions are generous, so if you have a small appetite, I would get the lunch special, as it’s a bit smaller than the dinner.
We also love getting to-go dip and fish from the smokehouse. Service is wonderful and efficient every time we go. Food has never let us down. It’s spectacular! Every time we travel, we always try to bring some fish as a gift – our friends love it!

It was very yummy! It was my first time having smoked fish- the waitress could tell and came over to give advice on how to eat it lol which was much appreciated. I usually dont like coleslaw but their’s was good! Potato salad and clam chowder was also very yummy! They have lots of indoor seating, which I couldnt tell at first because every table outside was full, so i thought maybe it was outside only, but then i checked inside and they had many spots available.

Been going here my whole life. It is a St. Pete institution. I just don’t like smoked fish so…i have that amazing cheeseburger, potatoes salad and a cold root beer. My favorite! The fish and fish spread are world famous!

It’s been 30 years since I ate here. Everything is still fabulous. Sue gave us wonderful, personal service. The atmosphere is casual and peaceful. The menu is delicious and the prices are reasonable.

Best Place for Smoked Fish in Florida. We prefer the Salmon. One is good for two. Do not miss the German Potato salad and the Coleslaw

Iconic Florida smoked fish house. After 70 years, some places barely need introduction. Some places stand so firmly on their straight forward, no frills tradition that a bag full of Michelin stars couldn’t unmoor them. The mere request of something they’ve never served (in this case: pickled jalapeños) sends the server into a recitation of how they’ve been doing things the same way for 70 years and they’ve never had pickled jalapeños. “I understand”, I nodded in submission. Frankly, the smoked fish dip came with saltine crackers and a bottle of hot sauce, they didn’t need the jalapeños.
The choices were smoked mahi, salmon, or mullet. We got the mullet. We sat in near silence tugging at the perfectly smoked meat with an ocassional gulp up draft beer served in a frozen mug.
It was all excellent. More like a snapshot of living history than a weekday meal. Many had been here before us. Many, we hope, will continue to come for generations. After all the family that owns it is the 5th generation. Wishing them long and continued success.
