The lamb Chislic was fantastic! I had it with the caramelized onions and sweet potato fries with ranch. Comes with coleslaw and Texas toast. This location is set up more like a sports bar. We went in that lunch and it was pretty dark to make it easy to see the televisions.

We were impressed with the entire experience. The server was great. The food perfectly done. The place isn’t loud where you need to raise your voice just to have a conversation.

Used to go here when it was North Star and loved it. I know Tinners has been in Sioux Falls forever so figured it should be good under the new ownership. I got a steak salad, which was good. $18.50 for it is a bit steep but I get it. Husband got the sirloin with broccoli and sweet potato fries, which he was originally excited about as a new diabetic, since finding meals that won’t mess him up are somewhat difficult when eating out. Fries were great. Broccoli was well cooked but not seasoned. The steak however – no seasoning, and is very obviously pre-cooked and just slapped on the grill to make the marks. It was almost a perfect rectangle also. We were checked in by the server and bartender multiple times which was nice, but whichever took our order didn’t write it down (normally an impressive skill) but my salad ended up just greens/onion/steak/Bleu cheese/ranch. And hubs didn’t get his mushrooms/onions on his steak. Which we did bring up to one of the servers when they stopped to check on us and they made him his mushrooms and onions and brought it to us on a plate and told us they would comp it. But if you’ve ever had a steak in your life, you know that there’s a difference between just eating it with onions and mushrooms and having it cooked and smothered in them.

My biggest gripe though and why I won’t be returning is because they did not charge us correctly. It wasn’t like a big amount of money but it’s the principle. My husband’s steak was $16.50 per the menu, and they charge $2 to have it smothered. So that would put us at $18.50. they charged me $18.75 for it and then only comped me $1.50. so again, not a crazy big amount but I don’t understand how, As a business, you can just blatantly mischarge items. I can only imagine how they’re able to nickel and dime parties of more than two people when not everyone is looking that closely at the receipt.

Went with a large group tonight, 7 adults and 7 kids. Our server, Ashley, was fantastic! She accommodated us and was so friendly and wonderful the entire time. Will go back just because of how great she was!

Got in in time to watch last 3 innings of game 7 of the world series. I walked in to great music being played and Reba the bartender greeted me with a smile and made me feel welcomed to the establishment. I ordered the Chislic, both Lamb and Steak and they both came out fantastic. Highly recommend coming in and trying out the food.

We were there last Friday and there were so many unique items we wanted to try, we came back today. The food is tasty and comes to the table quickly. They have flavorful steaks and many comfort food items. Their dirty fries make it hard to put your fork down between bites. Look out for the desserts. You will need the help of other tables’ guests to help eat the entire thing, but you won’t want to share. The staff is still getting up to speed. Be patient with them as they get trained. Enjoy reading the menu and finding the eclectic items that make Northstar a fun and satisying place to eat.

The walleye tacos I ordered were great! The beer on tap is ice cold and the service is on-point! I highly recommend. I took pictures because it’ll be looking different in the next couple days because they’re remodeling the entire place!

Great hidden diner!
Stopped this noon since it was on our way, and had been meaning to for some time. Owner is the nephew of church friends. Service was very friendly. Food was very plentiful and delicious. I’m not really a fries girl, but get these! That hint of black pepper is so nice. Thin crispy planks. We both had enough for two meals. Dad’s shrimp were huge.
