Was hesitant to try Mexican food in Newport but this looked a bit upscale and didn’t disappoint. Unique take on some dishes with a local twist. Clearly fresh ingredients. Chips and salsa and guacamole were a huge portion and delicious. Margaritas were super tasty and came in many flavors. Went with the duck tacos which were stellar but could have used a third taco for that price. Server was great, she was patient and helpful. Would recommend to anyone and it’s obviously popular being so busy on a Tuesday night in late October.
I’d say the only downside is the 1% addition to your bill for kitchen staff. I get the message and purpose but why not just pay your staff more rather than forcing your customers to subsidize your payroll?

Amazing dinner all around. Great atmosphere, service, and food! Guac app was good portion and very tasty, sticky ribs were INCREDIBLE, and duck tacos were A+ and also great portions. We split a pitcher of spicy watermelon margs, so good. We all left full and happy!
They were also very accommodating for my gf who was celiac and had plenty of gluten free options for her including gluten free chips

AMAZING vegan & gf options! I love the vegan chorizo & corn tacos the “meat” was so flavorful. The vegan sofrito enchiladas are also very flavorful. I will definitely be back!

I’m sorry that I don’t have food pics…those blood orange margaritas took over! Lol. Get the pitcher. Trust me. Sticky wings are the bomb. Anything you eat here is delicious. It’s a must whenever we are in town.

I heard rave reviews of this place so went here my last night of my trip as a Mexican food lover from Texas. The service was great. The food was good. We started by sharing the queso appetizer. It was really good with the bacon …. I had ordered the appetizer empanadas for my dinner after the queso thinking I wouldn’t be that hungry. They were, again, good but didn’t amaze me. I love the varied menu but was slightly disappointed by the food. The empanada shell did not taste quite right to me and undercut the filling. Still the service was great and I enjoyed my meal . Also it would be nice if you could specify indoor or outdoor seating for the reservation. My friend made it so I may have misunderstood the process but thought I would add that

Great place and atmosphere, outside dining is great. Definitely try the Fried Avocado, its amazing! Taco Bowl is great and a nice nutritious meal.

Had an amazing night at Perro salado last night. My boyfriend got the restaurant week special salmon which was delicious and I got the sweet potato and street corn tostada. SO good. Service by Kayana was amazing and very attentive. This is our favorite restaurant and for good reason! Such an awesome place.

Everyone at our table was blown away by the flavors. Going in, I wasn’t sure what to expect, since New England isn’t really known for its Mexican food. Since our meal earlier this evening, I’ve thought about the food several times since.
The margaritas are excellent, chips and guac are the best I’ve had outside of Mexico, chipotle corn was great, shishito peppers great, quest fondito great, and lobster quesadilla great. I imagine the other dishes were amazing as well.
It’s not cheap but also not expensive. It could be 5x the price and I’d still pay. I’ll be back often! Based on my experience, I could not believe how there could be any 1-star reviews. You can read through them if you want a laugh… people complain about the dumbest stuff. I simply can’t speak highly enough about this place.

Found this place by chance because we’re in town for 5 nights and it’s right behind the Jailhouse Inn where we’re staying. We were tired of traveling so we decided to have dinner there due to proximity. What a hidden gem. Everything was exceptional with good food, service and atmosphere. Live band playing and not overly loud and relaxing. Love the unique menu items: avocado fries and sticky ribs as examples were amazing. Tamarind beef burrito and empanadas top notch. If I lived around here this would be a regular go to place.
