I so look forward to eating at Basanti every week. Whether dining in or taking out, it’s a consistently delicious and pleasant experience. The Chef and server are attentive and care about your enjoyment. I like that they open at 4:00pm and I can stop there conveniently after work on the way home. The menu has many delicious choices – the usual Indian dishes, but also unique items like Aloo Tikki (fried potato patty appetizer), “Chicken 65” (appetizer), roasted beets and goat cheese salad, and chicken tikka kebab salad. The dining room is small, but nicely set up for families, couples, and singles.

Great food and atmosphere, authentic Indian food seriously. Highly recommend you come here and try the food. The service is absolutely fantastic and they are highly detail oriented and provide you real service. By far the best Indian restaurant in Orange County and I would say LA County. The bread is amazing and the desert Gulaab Jamun is just the right amount to give you a sweet taste at the end of your meal. At the end of my photos, you can see the well kept, gorgeously decorated location.
Everything is well kept and the tables are very nicely decorated and have nice music and tvs with Bollywood dancing playing just at the right sound level. The chairs also have cute little cushions that aid to back support when sitting down.
By far the best Indian restaurant I have tried, and I have tried many!
Thanks

I would say there aren’t too many Indian spots in OC to begin with. This place is okay, they made some efforts with the Goa fish curry and Lamb coconut curry. Garlic naan was pretty good. The chicken 65 was not to my liking it was served as masala as opposed to a little fried and roasted. Lucas the server was super freindly, my wife and I shared some laughs with him.

Wow! Basanti was really good! It was my first time dining in there. The place was packed when we got there so we had to wait a bit but that was fine. It’s a small place. The smells of the different foods while we waited were amazing! The wait wasn’t long just a few minutes. We ordered an appetizer dish, a lamb dish, and tiki masala. It was all really really good food! I will definitely be going back there again!

I had an incredible dining experience at Basanti Indian Restaurant in San Juan Capistrano! The food was absolutely amazing — I ordered the biryani, chicken tikka masala, and each dish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The balance of spices and freshness of the ingredients truly made the meal unforgettable.
A special shoutout to the owner, Roshan, who was incredibly warm and welcoming. His passion for the restaurant and ensuring that every guest has a top-notch experience really shines through. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is excellent, and I can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re looking for authentic and delicious Indian food, Basanti is the place to go!

Did I just land in Mumbai? Basanti is as real as it gets. My local hangout and could eat here everyday – sometimes hitting this place up 3-4x per week (I’m not the only one – the number of Uber Eats guys who show up at dinner time is insane and at times, I’m the odd one out in a restaurant full of Mubaians). This place holds it own in a smaller community with no shortage of restaurants and located on the other side of the railroad tracks, literally, where many tourists venture/land given the train station and location of Mission SanJuan. Everything cooked to order (love that I can hang with the locals – authentic staff – and handle the same, if not more spice then they especially for a white chick from the Midwest) including no spice for little people, like my twin grandkids who devour the buttered naan and tandoori chick. The owner, first generation (I think) and the nicest most humble guy (he recognized me at another San Juan hangout then bought my glass of wine) just wants you to have the most pleasurable dining experience enjoying cuisine he’s passionate about. My favs: buttered naan, roasted beet salad, lentil soup, and chicken korma, extra spice. The world’s a big place so get out there…or at least venture to the other side of the train tracks or even stay home (#ubereats) and reap the same benefits of good food and good company!

I’m giving bad reviews to the server, he treated us really differently from the other table. I don’t understand his rude behaviors. All I asked if they serve chicken tikka masala and his answer was very rude. Also, the food isn’t good either. Plus I asked ice cream to go, it’s totally skim for 2 samples ice cream they charged me $12
