The bread in the basket was a good variety and the whipped butter went well with all of them.
The grilled cheese with bacon was very cheesy and the texture was excellent the crunch of the bread and bacon complemented the smooth cheese and grilled onion.
The bread pudding was not overly sweet but it was somewhat rich and had the cold sweet vanilla ice cream with the warm caramel/bourbon and the pudding.
I had lemonade with my meal and it was a good balance of sweet to acidic and was just a bit on the tart side, which I do prefer.
Also got a good kick out of the menu description for well done.
We had two sushi rolls, shrimp & macadamia + a daily special that wasn’t on the menu. Also corn & clam chowder + the Aussie rolls.
It was all very good and the location has plenty to do before or after you ear. Free parking on nights and weekends, otherwise parking is free if you eat at the restaurant.

Step into Jackson’s and you’re stepping into a space that bridges eras – a Reston mainstay that blends classic Americana with a contemporary culinary pulse. The curved brick façade, glowing neon, terrazzo floors, and murals set a retro-modern stage that feels both familiar and fresh.
The menu is as versatile as the atmosphere. The Blue Crab & Shrimp Fritters arrive golden and crisp, with a lobster-ginger sauce that balances sweet and tang. Deviled Eggs topped with pecans and sugar-cured bacon hit nostalgic notes with a twist. For mains, the Short Smoked Salmon Filet was balanced and flavorful, while the 5 Star Reserve Rib Eye stands out as the indulgent showpiece – perfectly grilled and paired with Brussels sprouts, bacon, and spiced pecans. Gluten-sensitive diners aren’t sidelined here, with Ozzie’s Brick Chicken and even flourless desserts on a dedicated menu.
Save room for dessert: the Flourless Chocolate Waffle with Ice Cream was rich yet not overwhelming, and the Lemon Marshmallow Meringue Pie playful and bright. Cocktails, like the Jackson’s Mule, are well-crafted and fairly priced.
Service was attentive and well-paced even in a bustling room, though weekends bring a lively (and loud) crowd. Reservations are smart for dinner; weekday lunches are easier.
My only miss: the French Dip. Beautifully presented but mine arrived closer to raw than medium rare, with a lukewarm au jus. For $30, I expected more precision. That said, many online reviewers rave about it. So consider it a hit-or-miss item depending on your taste for ultra-rare beef.
Whether it’s a business lunch, a date night, or a family dinner, Jackson’s delivers. A broad menu, strong service, and lively atmosphere keep it at the center of Reston dining.

I ordered a caesar salad which I found to be too vinegary, bread and butter (delicious!!), Cajun pasta with added shrimp. My sister ordered a ribeye ( I could be mistaken) that came with caramelized Brussels sprouts with pecans and fries. Since my sister doesn’t eat Brussels sprouts I ate them. They were also delicious. I had no complaints with the food.
An observation was that besides waitstaff, for the majority of the visit we were likely the youngest people there and the only African Americans. It in no way impacted the stay. When we noticed, we did a quick google search and found the place has a reputation as a cougar bar. So if you are looking for one, maybe go and shoot your shot. Not at lunch time though.
Oh and the RTC Reston website says they validate parking for all garages. They don’t. Park in the orange lot across the street.
After my first drink I decided to order the bacon cheeseburger, and oh my gosh I’m not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! It was so juicy and tasty, and even cooked to medium, which is always a bonus. The fries that came with it were also really good.
I’m sure I’ll be back the next time I’m in Reston!
