Reviews
• The Ordering Process: It has a bit of a nostalgic “school cafeteria” vibe. You walk up to the counter and pick out your selections from what’s available, which makes for a quick start to the meal.
• The Food: They offer a wide variety of selections. In terms of quality, it’s decent—it doesn’t necessarily blow other high-end dim sum spots out of the water, but it’s fair when you consider the price point.
• AYCE & Menu Items: You can order extra items off the menu as part of the All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) deal. However, be prepared to wait; these items tend to take a long time to come out from the kitchen.
• Service: The servers are very friendly and welcoming, which makes the wait for the menu items a bit more bearable.
Verdict: A solid choice for a filling, affordable meal if you aren’t in a massive rush for the made-to-order dishes!
There was a good general variety of food but the Dimsum variety was lacking. There was only Har-gow, shu-mai, sesame balls, xlb, (maybe a little more? But nothing that great). I was hoping that they have more sweets and baked items. Also, things like the xlb were in limited supply and not that great.
The quality of food was a hit or miss depending on the dish. XLB and the Bao were meh. Fried chicken and Pork belly were really tasty.
The portions also varied – some were portioned correctly but some dishes had way too much in them
Do
– keep an eye out for new items
– come with many people to split the dishes
Do not
– order beef noodle soup, portion is too big
– expect to eat only Dimsum or have much of it
But make sure to check out their Saturday AYCE. For only $24.99 they have 40 items to choose from including all your classic Chinese dishes, dim sum options, malatang, and noodle and rice cake options. Plus they have one of the best beef noodle soup around! And your meal with their homemade tofu, pudding and a refreshing soy milk.
Shanghai Cuisine is a great spot if you want to try a variety of Chinese dishes, especially if you aren’t familiar with traditional items.
• Pricing: $19.9 per adult on weekdays, $9.9 for kids under 10; $24 on weekends.
• Closed on Sundays.
The menu boasts a wide variety of dishes, all cooked to order. Spicy options are available upon request, and meals come with white rice, brown rice, plus sweet fermented rice balls. Pro tip: Arrive at 5:30 PM, and you’ll get to try all the listed dishes (note that not all items are served at the same time). Great value for money—definitely a spot to revisit regularly!
That said, the food itself seems to be prepared well, and the flavors were genuinely good. With better attention to keeping dishes fresh and hot, this place could easily return to what we initially enjoyed about it. We really wanted to love it again, but based on this visit, it’s difficult to give a more positive review. Sadly, because of this experience, we likely won’t be coming back anytime soon. We do hope improvements are made, as the potential is definitely there.
