Second, and much more importantly, I bit into the falafel, the very first bite I took from this delivery, and there was a big chunk of gravel. Yes, I heard it stop my teeth, pulled it out, and it looked just like road. Did someone drop the falafel in the parking lot and decided to get rid of it on DoorDash order? I have no idea. I just know that the spread I had ordered for my party was not something I could serve, so I had to scramble to put something else together.
This is such a shame because the food used to be better, fresh, and thoughtful. I don’t know what happened, but I will never order from them again.
The kitchen is incredibly efficient. The food came out at a great pace and it tasted just as delicious as it looked. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful as well.
I couldn’t recommend Turko Cafe enough. They have a great variety of dishes and flavors. You can bring your meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegan friends with confidence that everyone can find a dish they’ll enjoy.
I haven’t had a chance to truly explore Turkish cuisine and wow, I’ve been missing out. What a great introduction to a food full of flavors.
Also, their baklava is the best I’ve ever had.
I can wait to come back to try more
If you’ve never tried Turkish food before, this is the perfect place to start. Everything is fresh and absolutely delicious. I ordered the Suleyman the Second dish—it was incredible, especially the Adana kebab paired with a refreshing Ayran drink. I also had the Kunefe dessert with Turkish tea, and it was the perfect sweet finish. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Also, they have nice coffee sets
The appetizer platter is a must it comes with warm pita bread. We ordered muammara, baba ghanoush, cacık, dolma, and hummus. All were delicious, but I especially liked the hint of cinnamon in the dolma.
Their pide was tasty, though the “everything pide” was a bit too heavy with multiple kinds of meat. I’d recommend trying some of the other pide options, as the cheese-to-bread ratio was great. The mantı (Turkish dumplings) had a fantastic sauce, but the dough-to-filling ratio wasn’t ideal. Still, I recommend trying it for a different take on dumplings.
The beyti and Adana kebab were excellent. I highly recommend the beyti! The Adana kebab was a bit thick and felt more like köfte than kebab, but the side salad was perfectly done and absolutely delicious. I would have preferred a different rice variety since basmati isn’t commonly used in Turkish cuisine, but it was still tasty.
Last but not least, the künefe (listed as “Bird’s Nest”) exceeded my expectations. It was clearly handmade, not frozen, and I highly recommend it! However, while the menu listed it as $8, we were charged $12, so keep that in mind. That said, it was well worth more than $8.
Overall, the service was great, the food was delicious, and this place offers a wonderful taste of Turkey from miles away!
