Johnson Barbeque is a Plant City tradition – a neighborhood restaurant that serves classic southern dishes – Pit Barbeque, Steak Specials, Real-Deal Sandwiches, Famous BBQ Tacos, Salads, Sides, and more. Our tradition of BBQ in the Johnson family began over 60 years ago in Plant City. Elton Johnson, began slow-smoking pork shoulders out of his gas station-turned-restaurant in 1954. His legacy continues today.

The food is always absolutely delicious! Even better plus, all the french fries are fried in beef tallow, not that terrible, carcinogenic, canola or vegetable oil! That was a huge win for us! The brisket is delicious, moist, and fresh. Everything came out piping hot and very fast! Our server was absolutely amazing attentive and very pleasant.

Great little barbecue joint. Had the loaded baked potatoe with pulled pork – so good and filling. I recommend mixing the two sauces – one sweet and one vinegary. Rolls are a 10000/10

Wow!!!!!! Been going to Freds Market for over 25 years and never went to Johnson’s BarBQ; right next door, until a friend highly recommended it.
They have an extensive menu with lots of great b-b-q options!!!
My friend suggested the bacon cheeseburger (YUM!!!!) and it was as delicious as she described!!
I had homemade coleslaw as a side and it was outstanding!!!!
The restaurant was packed which speaks volumes!
Our server, Madison was outstanding!!!!! She truly made a difference amd offered mael suggestions

I absolutely love Johnson’s Barbeque! Walking into this place feels like stepping into your neighbor’s favorite hangout spot – and I mean that in the best possible way.
The food is fantastic, but what really sets Johnson’s apart from all the other barbecue joints out there is the atmosphere. Those weathered black-and-white photos on the walls tell the story of this community, while the warm glow from the neon sign and the comfortable mix of wooden tables and booths create this incredibly welcoming vibe.

Great BBQ place which has been here for decades! The ribs were fatty and meaty with a great flavor, my brisket wasn’t as hot as I would like but flavor was good. The beans were delicious! Portions are great, I went very hungry and still wasn’t able to finish it all! –

We planned on visiting Johnson’s BBQ at least 2 years ago however our first time was yesterday and it was truly fantastic. As soon as you arrive at the door there is someone there to greet you immediately and also seat you comfortably , there is the unique air of southern hospitality and also kindness from the servers and waitstaff! The atmosphere is rustic and original that way you know your in line for some great BBQ the way it was meant to be, slow smoked and falling off the bone tender. The side dishes were also great, the have collard greens, green beans, sweet potatoes soufflé and potato salad to name just a few along with desserts. The main entrées are of the slow smoked ribs and chicken, to include beef brisket and pork butter. My favorite were the nachos which are an appetizer but easily could’ve been a meal as they were covered in melted cheese and layered with chunks of beef brisket! Also the Southern fried chicken was slow smoked, fried and then drizzled with honey, OMG!! The taste was Phenomenal!! My wife had the BBQ Chicken wings and they were succulent and juicy, the sauces weren’t overpowering and were sweet and smokey !! I would definitely recommend Johnson’s BBQ to anyone traveling or living around the Plant City, FL area it’s worth a trip as I’ll be going back ASAP! Great job Johnson’s keep up the great service, hospitality and food!!

BBQ was amazing. Sauce had a great flavor and the additional sauces on the table you could add to it were wonderful too. Macaroni and cheese had seasonings so you could tell it was fresh made and not out of a box. Ribs fell right off the bone and were so tender. Baked beans and green beans were quite tasty too. Wait was pleasantly shorter than what we were quoted and we were seated only after a few minutes.

My wife and I had tacos loaded with brisket. These were some of the best tacos we have ever had. The brisket was moist and tasty, and the chipotle mayo and barbecue sauce only added to the flavor. Our server, Jazzy, took great care of us. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and they even have a rewards program to save you money. Highly recommended.
