This is my go-to Cracker Barrel and, honestly, my favorite in the Hampton Roads area! On my most recent visit I ordered the Thursdsy special, turkey and dressing dinner with turkey gravy, sweet potato casserole and green beans accompanied by their peach tea. Also the $5 special of chicken noodle soup and salad I ordered to go. The food was prepared to perfection and was brought out while very hot. The cornbread muffins were very fresh, hot. and soft on the inside! Delicious!
The only thing that surpassed the perfectly prepared food was the top notch service by Jania. She was professional and friendly and provided superb service! She checked on me constantly!
Upon leaving the dining room, I was able to purchase a beautiful floral picture in gorgeous pink hues at a greatly reduced price from their unique selection of decor items. Looking forward to my next visit!

We had sworn off going to Cracker Barrel ever again several years ago after many disappointing and over priced meals with bad service. At 8:30 Tonight, out of desperation because Cracker Barrel was close and we were “starving” we ventured in the door. The door was opened for us by a nice young lady who welcomed us in and we were promptly seated. Our server Jeff was quick to greet us and gave us the most incredible experience ever at any Cracker Barrel. The food was amazing. The service was stellar and the beer was cold…yes Cracker Barrell had beer, wine and mixed drinks. Cracker Barrel is back…just like the old days. Great service and fantastic food like it used to be! Jeff, thank you! Cracker Barrel you just won back some once very loyal regular customers who had written you off years ago, so thank you for listening and returning to your roots. If you haven’t tried Cracker Barrel in a while I suggest you give them another chance – specially the one on Portsmouth Blvd and ask for Jeff. Jeff – you made a big impression on us and we really appreciate the stellar service.

Party of 21. We were given 1 waitress Lexy. She was great but took our drink order first moved to the other tables and took drink and food orders. She didn’t take our food order until after out guess food came out. Our guess were finished eating and then our order came out. She did not give us silverware so our food started getting cold before we were able to ask for some. I know it was a party of 21 but we were not that demanding it was older ppl our grandfather was 101 today. Overall the experience was ok but I definitely don’t recommend. The food was ok for it to be your front cover meal. The manager heavy set black female came over while my party was eating and we were just sitting there and didn’t inquire or ask how our was our meals. Horrible CS from the manager. First time at this one but probably the last too.

For a place that specializes in breakfast foods they need to learn how to cook eggs. They have a diverse menu with plenty of options and an excellent place for kids. Service is a bit slow and the ambience of the decor is outstanding.

We had dinner here last night. The wait was very long to get seated. And then the food took a long time. Yes we were at a restaurant but if the food takes that long it should not be cold when it comes to the table. My husband was missing the fruit that was supposed to come with his meal. My French fries and chicken sandwich we’re not warm at all. But our waitress was perfect. She was very helpful and respectful and sweet. The only thing good about the experience was her. We will not return. The food would have tasted good but it was cold. I just decided to bring mine home and warm it up for the next night. If you’re going to wait that long for food it should be piping hot. Again our waitress was perfect and I thank her for everything she did and her sweet spirit.

This is a late review, we were there 9/25/25. It was the worst experience I’d ever had at any Cracker Barrel. The server took our orders and I asked if we could have biscuits while we waited. The biscuits were obviously burnt. The tops were the color of dark toast. I asked if we could have done that weren’t burnt. She said that’s the way they came out and they all looked like that. I asked to speak with the manager. Meanwhile our order came out. I tapped on a pancake and it was audibly crusty. The manager finally showed up. She came with a defensive attitude. I asked about the burnt biscuits. She said that is the way they came out because they had to bake them every hour. She said that with a condescending tone and facial expression. I said it doesn’t matter how often they make them, they shouldn’t be burnt. I showed her the photo on the menu. She finally said she’d see if there were any more. Then I showed her how the pancakes could barely be cut. She said it was all “you can eat pancakes day” and she hadn’t had a complaint all day. She also said that the cook was experienced. We were there about 3:00 PM, so definitely several empty tables. When she finally brought back the re-cooked items, again with an unpleasant attitude. We told the server that it was not her fault, and tipped her anyway. But this manager was a disgrace to the brand. I’ve been to Cracker Barrel in several different cities because I love the food. Never had overcooked food. Managers have stopped by to make sure everything was satisfactory.

Always love going here the staff always greeting you with a smile and they’re very friendly. It’s an awesome experience from when you walk in the door until you leave. Love love love the gift shop after having a delicious meal you can find cute things for around the house or just grab some candy. Always a pleasure.

All was fine until my aunt was eating cornbread and she bit on something. She got a piece of glass out of her mouth. It was a small piece square like. We think it was a piece of jewelry as the edges were smooth, but we told our waitress Kaitlyn who was a great waitress. But she advised her manager there and the manager came by and said she was sorry. They didn’t even offer more bread or fresh cornbread etc. I think my aunts meal should have been free. But everything else was fine.
