The Cupboard Restaurant is a cozy little family spot that truly feels like home. They serve delicious homemade comfort food, with something on the menu for everyone. Everything we had was fresh, hearty, and satisfying.
Our service from Matthew was wonderful—he was attentive, friendly, and such a sweetheart. He even took the time to chat with us about local attractions in the area, which made the experience feel extra personal.
A lovely place with great food and even better hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!

We’ve eaten here numerous times, but another restaurant’s poor experience motivated me to praise the Cupboard’s contrast. Nothing new, but consistency is a plus. All the food was hot and filled the serving containers. Newcomers note the great variety of interesting veggies, like eggplant, Italian spinach, and baked squash. My spicy grilled catfish was perfect. Oh, and the cornbread and rolls are always a winner.

The service was on point even though straightforward. The fifties music is almost worth going for. Just a great outing at a fair price.

Im obsessed with this place. The food might be mid to some people understandably- but for me, its super nostalgic. It tastes like what my family made at home my whole childhood. A real accurate taste of southern home cooking- and their chicken tenders and catfish? Incredible.

Ignoring the food, though, and theres the incredible service. I feel like I know these people (maybe because im there like every day haha) and they’re so nice and fun to talk to. It’s a great place to pop into after my workouts and recover.

I looked up a place for chicken fried steak and this one topped the list so we gave it a shot. My steak was good. Seasoned and cooked well. The sides I ordered got messed up but I ate the corn stuff. My sweet potato was a bit soggy but the reason we came was good. The place has a long history and you can see it when you walk in. It’s very dated but it was clean. Our server other than messing up the order did a great job checking in and seeing if we needed anything.

Great home cooking, quick service, cool 50s diner atmosphere. Debbie was super attentive and gave a great suggestion for the ham steak.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 – Country Breakfast with home fries and Cavallo Special (rib-eye steak with 2 eggs) with hash browns. The country fried steak was overcooked and extremely salty and the extra salt from the gravy didn’t help it much. The rib-eye steak was decent but slightly on the overcooked side for our liking. The home fries seemed to be some type of roasted potatoes so was quite confused since we were expecting fries. The packaging wasn’t done well so the whole bag was oily including the utensils, biscuits, and toast.

Service: 4/5 – busy restaurant and they seemed annoyed that we didn’t immediately know where to order or what the items were. Waited about 25 minutes for our food to be made.

Ambiance: n/a – ordered food to go. Older restaurant but seems clean overall

Value for price: 3/5 – such a busy and popular store for mediocre food unfortunately.

I’ve eaten here before so didn’t expect food quality and service to have decreased like it has. No one in this place seem happy. No one smiled. I remember going here a few years ago and the works smiled and it made you feel at home. I found a plastic wrapper cooked inside of my greens. Told my waiter who told a manager. The waiter took $2 off the manager never came over to apologize or anything. The food wasn’t so good this time as the quality has definitely decreased. Unfortunately I will not be going back wasting my money

Great advice from the lady in the Hotel Lorraine gift shop! When in doubt, ask a local where to eat! This is the place!
