Kabab & Curry Review – A Feast of Indian and Pakistani Fare
Reviews
We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza, the Chicken Biryani, the Samosa Chaat, The Tandoori Chicken, Plain Naans, the Halwa Puri, and one Kashmiri Chai drink for after the main course.
All of the food was very tasty, but I would especially recommend the Samosa Chaat as an appetizer and the Chicken Biryani and Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza as the main course. Also, the Kashmiri Chai tasted authentic to what you would find in Pakistan which was a pleasant surprise.
The Halwa was also delicious, and it had the grainy texture which is very hard to get correct without any food color (also a very pleasant surprise).
By far one of the best Pakistani/ Indian restaurants we have tried in the Pittsburgh region.
Ordered the Garlic naan with cheese, Lamb Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala. I’ll come back again soon for sure!
The meat quality was noticeably better than other kabob restaurants we tried. Their flavors are more Ind than Pak and the one curry we tried was super flavorful. They also offer some options that we don’t find very often in other places – chicken kofta, Chaplee kabob and the cheese stuffed garlic naan to name a few. That cheese stuffed garlic naan was just yummmmm.
They do claim to be a family run restaurant and the service can be a little slow but the food is worth the wait!
Decor was surprisingly good. Very very 90s fine dining diner style from the country.
Oh fabulous mango lasse too
We’ll definitely be coming back, as there are still many dishes on the menu that we didn’t get a chance to try. A special shoutout to Ibrahim, whose positive energy and infectious optimism added a wonderful touch to our evening. This restaurant left us with nothing but great impressions!
While they offer a wide range of traditional Indian and Pakistani dishes with options for vegetarians and carnivores, their Punjab cuisine is what makes K&C worth seeking out. The Punjabi chicken haleem is a standout, a rich and hearty stew with lentils and spices that really soothes the soul. They offer a variety of curry-like Punjabi gosht dishes that are great with fresh baked naan or puri. The dum-style biryani Hyderabadi and biryani pulao are also notable.
Traditional south Asian Teas and chais complete the meal. We’ve always been too full to order desserts, which look wonderful.
Open early for lunch and late for dinner seven days a week. They do a brisk take-out business. Well worth the trek into this part of the south hills.
Nice job, all around.
