Absolutely delicious filling in fabulous.
I had the jerk chicken and pasta. with a side of steamed vegetables and the sweet plantains.
The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly
I was Shocked to see this restaurant empty during the lunch Rush hour on an average thursday.
The food was very good. The place was inviting, cheerful, colorful, clean, and thenStaff were happy to answer questions.
After looking at the menu , you go up to the counter to order and pay.
The Food came out hot and fresh. and I cough myself looking my fingers clean after devouring the first drum stick of chicken. the creamy and delightfully flavored bird pasta was borderline addicting as I caught myself shoveling fork full after fork full.
The plantains were just perfectly caramelized on the outside and a starchy , soft interior that was both mellow and sweet.
Definitely coming back and definitely bringing friends.
The Floor plan was open if an individual came in here with a wheelchair, They would easily be able to be sat at any table with only minimal effort. and there are tables outside for those with pets

Being from South Florida, eating with Rastas in Kingston, and knowing good food, this place is so inconsistent and it misses the mark more than it hits it. From burnt plantains to watery pasta, you never know what your food is going to look or taste like. Being that it’s the only decent Jamaican restaurant in SJ, I’ve dismissed the inconsistency for some time, but not anymore. My boyfriend who’s from Brooklyn and is Caribbean is highly disappointed as well. The last 2 times he has ordered oxtails, he has had to throw it away because the flavor is not it. The curry chicken is mostly bones. Maybe if you’re not used to real, authentic Jamaican food that’s actually good, then Island Taste will probably be good to you, but if you have some standards about your Jamaican food, then look elsewhere.

The hostess was pleasant and explained the menu choices well. They offer complimentary lemon water while waiting. My sister had the lemonade and I enjoyed the hibiscus drink. The plantains and patties were a hit! I was disappointed in the plating of my food. The salad with vinaigrette mixed with the Rasta pasta, so I didn’t get to enjoy the different flavors on my plate much, except the Jerk Tofu which was phenomenal. My sister had the rice and it was cooked well, but her salad was also added with next to the rice so you got more of a vinegar taste. My suggestion is to serve the salad separately, but I would try it again if in the area.

My chicken tacos were mostly skin and bones (bones in pic). There were no peas in the “rice and peas” side dish and hardly any beans either, so it’s just rice. Got served in togo containers when I told them I was eating in. Order took absolutely forever even though I was the only person in the restaurant.

Best Caribbean spot in the area. Great atmosphere, fun staff, amazing food. LOVE the fact that they sell Haitian food…hard to find and so delicious. Rasta Pasta is so so good too. Marc is a great guy who runs a great spot. San Jose is lucky to have Island Taste!!

if you have not had the opportunity to try Island Taste trust me when I say this is the spot for your caribbean craving. They’ve done a great job with getting blends of cultures such as the Oxtail Tacos while also keeping that OG caribbean taste alive. The staff is great — recognizing my boyfriend (Dan) and always accommodating to orders with patience. We bring a lot of our friends here to try the food — especially as it’s a bright light in downtown SJ. Everyone is a returning client that’s for sure! – Dan

My brother took me here when I was in town. I felt transported to the islands. The food was top notch. The service was warm and welcoming. You can feel the love cooked into the food.
We ordered quite a range of food. I absolutely loved the oxtail and plantains. Highly recommend this place!
