Dian Xin 2 Chinese Restaurant Review in New Orleans – Facebook

We just got done eating at Dian Xin 2 and holy smokes.. it was SO GOOD. The cucumber salad and kung pao chicken were my favorites.

The food was so fresh and flavorful. Everything came out as soon as it was ready so it was all piping hot. The place was small and quaint with a view of the dim sum being made.

Maybe it’s due to Christmas busy time, but most of their effort seems on take-out. So even when you are seated after long wait, you’ll probably sit there for another hour before being served. Need more staff.

Who knew chinese food would be so good in the French Quarter. We come eat here every time we visit NOLA. Its a quaint little place and the staff if fantastic. I love the combo fried rice and my wife loves the lo mein noodles. Its all good.

This place is disgusting! I typically go to the Decatur Street location which is excellent, but as they were closed last Tuesday I went to this location. I requested “very light oil” in my food. It came literally floating in a sea of oil! It had a strong bitter taste! See the photos for the oil that leaked out of the food and into the paper bag. I had two bites and had to run to the bathroom with explosive diarrhea!!!! BEWARE!! GO TO THE DECATUR STREET LOCATION!!! THEY CAN COOK!

Went for lunch as a solo diner and had a good experience. I ordered the wontons in spicy sauce, veggie stir-fry, and jasmine tea. The tea was high quality and didn’t get bitter after steeping for a while. The flavor of the wontons was good, only downside is that they were very slightly over-boiled so fell apart a little. The spicy sauce was tasty though a little more umami and less chili-oil forward than I’ve typically had with this dish (maybe soy sauce added). The veggie stir fry was flavorful and had a nice variety of vegetables: caulini, lotus root, taro, bell peppers, celery. Service was very attentive and the restaurant was clean. I would return in the future.

I normally don’t leave reviews, but this place was so horrible that I felt obligated.

Hands down, the worst “Chinese Food” we have eaten anywhere … ever!

The sign reads “Authentic Chinese Food” … there was nothing authentic about the food here.

We ordered multiple dishes and each one was 0/10.

Salt&Pepper Squid: looked nothing like the picture. Resembled battered, frozen, thin-sliced calamari rings that you can buy in a higher-end grocery store.

Shu Mai: looked nothing like the picture, little flavor, but the only thing that was barely edible.

Vegetable spring rolls: overcooked / cooked in old oil. Served with a disgusting, fluorescent orange sauce that came straight from a jar.

Stir-fry noodles with chicken : chicken was overcooked/rubbery, lacked any flavor. It was if the chicken was pre-boiled and then thrown in a sauce for the last minute. Noodles were gummy and vegetables were bottom grade. Sauce tasted like it was also straight out of a jar.

Xiao long bao: nothing like the picture. 95% certain that they were previously frozen as the dough deteriorated when touched and they fell apart trying to pick them up, leaking out the key soup that they are known for. The waiter’s response to us was a condescending reply that we need to be more delicate with our chop-sticks … he nervously disappeared after I told him that I lived in Hong Kong, Taipei, and China for nearly 6 years and I know how to use chop-sticks. The second attempt was delivered by the chef who was unapologetic, but did state that she cooked them for less time … unfortunately, they fell apart just like the first attempt.

Side order of enoki: usually ordered for their Hot Pot, I asked them if they could just saute the mushrooms and toss in some sesame oil. I’m not sure how they were cooked, seems like they were briefly put in a microwave and then covered in the same disgusting orange sauce that was served with the egg rolls.

No one followed up after the food was served, and again did not follow-up after the second xiao long bao. We just asked for our check, and wanted to leave as fast as possible.

I would give this place zero stars if it was possible.
Would not recommend this place to anyone.

We ate here twice during our NOLA trip, it was that good. The first time we had general tso chicken and it was delicious and fresh. The next time we splurged for the hot pot. We’ve never had a hot pot. We make the mistake of getting it spicy. Yeah, won’t do that again lol. It was so hot we were crying. We both love spicy food, but as we’ve learned with authentic Thai food, apparently authentic Chinese food has the same spice scale and we underestimated how spicy it would be (this is not your strip mall Chinese). That said, my husband still talks about the hot pot and how great it was, even if it required us walking to CVS nearby for some TUMS . Note the other location doesn’t do hot pots like this one. This location is far superior. It’s a small restaurant so if it’s busy, you may have a wait.

Visited on a Wednesday night around 8:30 PM (they close at 9 and let us order before the kitchen closed). We got plum sake, beer, vegetarian pan fried noodles, spring rolls, and veggie bao – everything was SO good! The noodles were seasoned perfectly!

Service was great. Would recommend for anyone craving Chinese in New Orleans!

The worst service of any restaurant.
I ordered the Spring Rolls – 4 pieces.
I waited one hour.
Went to the counter and requested my order to go after one hour, and paid.
The order was placed in a bag, but – only received three pieces.
I requested the fourth piece.
I was told the “kitchen is busy” and to come back another day and request the forth spring roll.
I told them I already waited one hour and the rude people said “there are other orders in front of you and wait.”
Poor, poor customer service and very ugly workers.

Such a great little restaurant. Busy but not overly so. We got the soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, and fried rice with the 325ml bottle of sake. The soup dumplings were amazing. I would go back just to get them!
