Service was horrible. What was supposed to be to a nice Valentine’s Day meal, turned into the picture below. When I brought it to the attention of management, they told me they would not compensate of rectify the discrepancy. Very rude and disrespectful, she literally through a temper tantrum. We had a party of 7 for my daughter’s birthday at ~6pm on a Sunday and we were immediately seated. It was a great experience & our chef was the best at cracking some jokes while slinging those utensils. I’ve been to a couple of other places similar to this up near Chicago and Mikata fairs well comparatively speaking.
Of course for dinner and a show expect to pay a premium but it is nice for special occasions. I do think the place could use some ambiance updates & care of the aquarium too (Word to Mikata) plecostomus/aka Suckermouth catfish eat algae.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Truly Impressive Hibachi Experience – A Must-Visit in Dothan
I stopped by Mikata Japanese Steakhouse expecting a good meal, but left genuinely impressed. The hibachi experience where the chef cooks right at your table was top-tier entertaining, engaging, and delicious. The timing was smooth, and the chef added flair and humor without missing a beat.
My steak and fried rice were perfectly cooked, the veggies were fresh and crisp, and the portions were generous. The flavor? Spot on. You can tell they use quality ingredients and know what they’re doing.
What really surprised me was the variety; this isn’t just a place for hibachi. They’ve got sushi, a full bar, and even options for kids and families. The atmosphere was clean, upbeat, and welcoming, and the staff made sure we were taken care of from start to finish.
Definitely a five-star experience and a spot I’ll recommend to anyone visiting Dothan. If you’re looking for dinner and a show, Mikata delivers on all fronts.

One of the best places around. It was so interesting and exciting watching the whole process. We were a group of 7 and absolutely loved everything about this place. The friendliness, the fresh food, the service and the experience was top notch. My husband hates lobster and that’s what I got but for some reason he was stealing it off my plate thinking it was chicken and even tho he said it had a different taste and texture then chicken, he loved it. It was a good laugh. Will definitely be going back. LOVE IT !!!

Absolutely loved it! Everyone was nice! The cook was funny and very entertaining! The waitress was such a sweet lady! My guy and I had a great time for my birthday date! Prices weren’t bad at all tip and everything was way less than we expected it to be.

Service was fine and the guy who cooked was nice and entertaining but the food was not worth the price. My filet had 0 flavor it was the most bland thing I have eaten in a long time. The drinks are also overpriced some nicer places in the area offer the same drinks for almost half the price. The scalps were not very good either. The atmosphere was dingy at best, we noticed after that the overhead stove cover was dripping grease onto the grill top. It looks so run down. Honestly we should have just left without eating. I felt so sick when we left.

Love this place, we purposely stay the night at the Hilton next door so we can do dinner here. Sushi Chef is the best & so nice & talented. Wish they had tables that weren’t for the hibachi, but we’ll take the bar.

We had a great time at the Mikata Japanese Steakhouse in Dothan, Alabama! The food was wonderful and there was plenty of it. You will not leave here hungry. This was our second visit in the last four months and we were very happy with the food and service both visits. Wait time was very reasonable too. I selected the double salmon hibachi this time and was very pleased. Our chef did an excellent job preparing our meals and entertained us as well. He was very attentive to our requests and interacted well with each guest at our table. Our hostess was very friendly, took our orders quickly and made sure we had everything we needed. An excellent experience!
