With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Twisted Root appeared on the second season of Diners, Dr
Chain with gourmet beef, turkey & vegan burgers, plus spiked shakes. Some locations have game meats.

We went to Twisted Root Burger on a weekday and had a really nice experience. There wasn’t much of a wait, and it wasn’t crowded, which made it a perfect spot to relax and catch up.
The food was good overall. The chicken strips were slightly overcooked, but still tasty. The Tuesday deal is amazing — the price is hard to beat and definitely worth it!
My girlfriend and I had a great time enjoying the laid-back atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.

I visited this restaurant for the first time with a couple of family members and had a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant was fairly easy to find, conveniently located, free parking available nearby, we were welcomed by a friendly employee as we entered, they had a nice looking menu with a variety of burgers and other entrees including salads, prices were averagely priced, the food was ready in about 10 minutes and was served hot, was delicious, the dining room and our table was clean, did not smell, and was interestingly decorated, there was a variety of nice looking, comfortable seating, music was playing, and I don’t know if they had free WiFi.

I had the tree hugger burger, it was DELICIOUS! I like how they give you celebrity names for your order instead of asking for your name. Made the experience fun (Imagine hearing Snooki your order is ready lol). Staff was nice, the establishment was clean

The burgers were cooked well. They were thick and very tasty. I thought the different pickle options were interesting. The oreo milkshake was good. Overall, good food. The staff was very helpful, good customer service. However, the restaurant wasn’t very clean. We had a time finding a table that didn’t have food and sauce all over it. The restrooms were awful. I would try again, but a different location. Recommend if you’re looking for a good burger. Would score 3.5

Burgers are good. I really enjoyed the flavored pickle slices. The atmosphere is great. A reasonable amount of tvs and I like the decorations along with the bar set up. I would give this place a 3 1/2 starts on the food if I could. So I’ll bump it up to a 4 star for food.

Quirky, creative atmosphere with the food to back it up. Burgers were perfect, loved the real sugar soda choices, fried green beans were the best, and the pickle bar was fun. We tried the buffalo and the fries sampler. Great place for a casual date night. Table and floor were a bit sticky, and the milkshake machine was broken. We will definitely be back.

Have now been to a few different locations and can confidently say the burger’s are damn good across the board. This location has a sizable indoor seating area + a bar as well. You order at the counter when you walk in and then pay and get a number. We went with the fried pickles, I got the burger of the month, which at the time was a whole lotta bacon, I believe it was called the Kevin bacon. Super solid patty, great bun, fresh toppings. Plenty of different unique burger and chicken sandwich combos. Love that they have different types of pickles in barrels you can grab and eat tableside and add to your burger. Service was quick, solid place for a quick bite.

I thought this place was great! It was fun and original! This is a Diners Drive ins and Dives location, with a pic of Guy Fieri above the homemade pickle bar. There is an RV inside, which makes a fantastic place for the bar. You can sit on coolers with a tailgate backdrop. Use a port a potty, and spend hours just taking in all the ambiance. Oh yeah, the food was great, too! I can definitely see why it was on the TV show. It is well worth the visit! I would eat there often if I lived in the area!

My family and I loved going here but our recent visit might be the last. Every charmful and yummy thing about this place was gone. It’s just another run of the mill burger joint. We specifically went for their crafted root beer. GONE. All craft sodas are gone and replaced with regular commercial sodas. The chipotle ranch recipe was different and not good anymore. Tasted like tartar sauce. The food itself didn’t even taste as good as it used to. The menu options were downsized as well. Very disappointing.

I ordered a medium well burger & received one that looks, smells, & tastes raw. It is so bad I couldn’t eat it. The fried pickles were barely breaded & very soggy. I ordered through Door Dash so unfortunately I couldn’t send it back. This is the worst burger & fried pickles I’ve ever had.
