Great breakfast venue with a country flare. Portions are large and flavorful. We really enjoyed the cinnamon French toast. The owl nuts are huge and we really love the spiced tea that they serve. Service was superb and though the lines were long we got seated relatively quickly. Waitress checked with us to see if we needed anything Amber quick to reply with requests.

Believe the reviews. This place is awesome! Our first visit. Great food, fun decor, and stellar service from Kailyn and her people. We will certainly return.
Update: 11/26/25. We returned 2 days later… again delicious!

The food was decent, albeit not super hot. I always mark things down for not being hot. It means it was as all just sitting there, plated quickly without care. The bacon flight was limp, not hot bacon. It should be thick cut and crispy. The sugar should also be caramelized, not grainy. The bloody mary mix was good, albeit annoying I had to ask for bacon that should have come standard on it. The crab cake benedict was deep fried and bready, not flavorful. The carnitas benedict was tasty, not enough Chipotle, but warm, not hot. Overall, it wasn’t up to the hype this place gets.

Solid breakfast spot right off the freeway.
This visit was for a Parmesan crusted grilled cheese eggs Benedict.
Sourdough grilled cheese with bacon two fried eggs and holidase sauce. Country potatoes and an added fruit salad.
Enough for two,rich and satisfying.
Fresh fruit helped cut some of the guilt of the main order.
Plenty of Breakfast and lunch items on the menu and a full bar.
Plenty of parking out front and they close at 2:30pm.

Irish coffee full bar available & White Russian drink
The bacon flight was delicious, loved the jalapeño flavored one the best!! $7.99
Next the pastrami deli was delicious and with a wall with hot sauces really made the sandwich
I did the 2+2+2=good, 2 eggs, 2 bacon , fruit and either French toast, regular or cinnamon or pancakes.
Our particular server was not very attentive and after our Irish coffee it would have been nice to have at least a water brought over.
Overall worth the stop as the food and drinks are definitely delicious!!!
Plenty or parking and seating. Restrooms were clean.

Yummmmm! The food here is so good. Love their strawberry waffles and the service was excellent. Highly recommend. They are also able to accommodate large groups, but make sure to reserve for those ahead of time.

On the way to/from Tahoe/Reno??? Stop here for a bite to eat, you won’t regret it!

Here’s the backstory… I have an EV that can now use Tesla Supercharging stations, so when looking for places to charge up, I found a spot in Auburn that can top me off before heading up into the mountains. Let’s be honest, once you get into Nevada, there aren’t a lot of convenient choices for recharging. I digress…

After plugging into my first TS station, up the road was Ikeda’s Market (6 min walk). So as I was walking up to grab some lunch, I walked past Awful Annie’s. I’ve always noticed it from the freeway, but judging from its signage, I never thought about stopping in the past. There were quite a bit of cars out front so I turned around and decided to give it a try… glad I did!

Inside is a great, casual, wide open space which is great for all party sizes, from one person to twenty. The crowd is mixed and there appears to be a lot of regulars (a good sign). Service was friendly and efficient.

As for the food, I ordered a cup of the clam chowder and Annie’s French Dip sandwich with a side salad. The soup was delicious and the side salad was fresh and served with a nice Italian dressing (which I ordered). When my sandwich came though, it wasn’t the French Dip I had ordered, but an Italian Sub… although disappointed with the wrong order, I was pressed for time and didn’t want to make a fuss because the sandwich did look really good. First bite in and I could have cared less that the order was bungled. This sandwich was amazing!

As an update, I did stop by again the next day and ordered the French Dip and that was spectacular too!

Anyways, this could be my new GO TO on the way up the Tahoe from here on out. Actually, I hated it and you shouldn’t stop here… save the seat for me! I’m sure the secret is out on this place and I’ve been oblivious to it; not any longer!

For how slammed they were on a Sunday around 11am the service and food were excellent. Snagged a tasty Bloody Mary to go along with the Corned Beef Hash. Very good, nice cut on the corned beef (not too small so the meat doesn’t get lost) and perfectly cooked and seasoned potatoes that like to be bottle fed some Tabasco hot sauce. The Maria’s French toast also did not disappoint. Try the “Flight of Bacon” if you feel a little adventurous – also nice with the Bloody Mary.
