The beef& barley soup was rich, hearty, but not heavy. I wish I could get the recipe it was that good.
Strawberry Schaumburg torte was light and sweet, just like my grandfather used to make them for me. Justin, our server, was truly outstanding. He made celebrating 40 years of friendship a memorable experience. Complimentary valet parking is included, and Rob has a great personality and various QR codes to tip if you don’t carry cash.
Great establishment. Get there soon.
I got the pork shank shown, it was cooked perfectly and the meat was exceptionally tender, falling off the bone. Every bite of every component was packed with complementing flavor. I also had two beers, two of the best beers I’ve ever tried- incredible as I drink way too much and seek out new things constantly.
Allison was the *PERFECT* waitress! Immediately asking if I wanted to start with a beer, asking what my preference was, and recommending something I would have been pleased to discover after a month of searching. The dessert (shown) was also incredible, both hot and cold with soft bread and ice cream. Then of course there’s the restaurant itself! You must see it, loaded with amazing decor and stained glass.
I cannot recommend a place more highly, a real must-try.
Anyway, my wife and I ordered the Tour of Germany. They say it’s enough for two—I think it’s probably enough for two Green Bay Packers offensive linemen. It could have easily fed four of us. Thankfully, it was fantastic, and we ended up taking a lot home in boxes.
Our server was super nice. The atmosphere is traditional German, with plenty of holiday décor, which was a nice touch. It has a great historical vibe, and the food is excellent. No surprise they’ve been around as long as they have. Danke schön.
The meat from Tour of Germany is very tender and juicy, the amount can feed 3-4 people, especially if you do sharing.
The only item I would add that would make Mader’s even better is 1 to 2 more vegetarian dishes. I know its not the norm of German food; it would make it a little easier for those with different diets to have more than one option to choose from.
Definitely will be back.
The menu is a celebration of classic German fare: buttery pretzels, crisp fried fish, and schnitzels that could double as comfort food therapy. The beer selection is robust, with Spaten Lager served in glass boots that practically beg for a toast. Whether you’re diving into oxtail soup or the Bavarian platter, portions are generous and flavors are bold.
It’s a great spot to hang out, indulge, and let the atmosphere transport you.
