Krua Kampan: Family-Friendly Thai Restaurant in Mu Si, Pak Chong
Reviews
We now understand why their Google ratings is so low
The taste is decent, but I feel like you could find similar dishes elsewhere. The highlight for me was the fried spicy crispy catfish. It was flavorful, had a great crunch, and paired perfectly with rice. That dish alone stood out.
The restaurant has a charming, old-school decoration which adds a nostalgic touch, though it may not appeal to everyone. The menu is extensive, almost too much so, to the point where I had trouble deciding what to order.
Food OK, but just OK. We ate Larb moo taut – not spicy enough and they used lime powder rather than fresh lime. Somtam, we asked for not sweet, it was sweet.
We ordered Tom Khlong Pla Salid (just another type of Tom Yum), local mackerel salad, century egg with minced pork and crispy basil leaves. All are great. Fresh fruit was also available.
Services were good.
This place requests customers to pay by cash, although QR code payment is accepted.
Visited them for dinner after reading many good reviews and ordered the following dishes:-
-Green Curry With Pork. Its fragrant, creamy, mildly sweet and had a satisfying kick of heat. Pork pieces were tender and soft to bite.
-Clear Tom Yum Seafood Soup had a good blend of sour, spicy and savory notes for its rich broth, and generous ingredients of chewy squids, fish balls, mushrooms and etc.
-Deep Fried Pork With Kaffir Lime Leaves had crispy exterior, tender succulent interior and well seasoned. Garnish of Kaffir Lime Leaves and chopped onions paired well with the pork. However they could have served Thai Sweet Chilli sauce (Nam Chin Kai) with this dish, instead of ordinary Chilli sauce for dipping.
-Stir Sunflower Seedlings with Tofu, consisted of Sunflower sprouts too, was well cooked and retained its mild nutty, earthy flavour as well as its crisp and crunchy texture. The oyster sauce was not over savory and fried tofu paired well.
-Fried Tofu With Fried Garlic and Fried Rice were good in terms of overall texture, but do not have any distinctive flavours though.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner. Food were good but not really impressive, as most of the dishes that we had ordered were average to me. Service staffs were friendly, patient and efficient but not attentive. Ambience of the restaurant were of typical open-concept traditional thai restaurant with wooden fixtures and furnishings.
