Reviews
I was going to write a better review for this restaurant all because of Katie, our wonderful waitress, but when I tried to go back into the restaurant to give her a tip (because I had no cash on hand) this same young man (Matthew maybe?) Looked right at me several times while wiping the door and refused to open it. Young man, you cost that woman a $20 tip and beyond that you have no idea WHAT could have been going on in the parking lot and why I was trying to get your attention! There could have been an emergency, I could have left my phone in the restaurant, anything!! You have a lot of life to live and I hope you learn some valuable lessons along the way and develop some manners as well.
If I could give this 0 stars I would. Let’s start with there is currently no silverware to be found- asked our “server” and he pointed me in the direction of the bins which I informed him were empty. He then proceeded to give me 2 bags of silverware off another table. I’m sorry, my husband has stage 4 cancer sir, I don’t know who touched these!! There are at least 6 empty food trays at the buffet with people standing around complaining that there is no food to get. I did manage to snag a piece of fried chicken and it is cold, somehow dry and greasy at the same time, and taste burnt. The broccoli is cold. We were told there is a 40 minute wait on steak and the man cooking them has promptly turned the grill up to inferno and they look like charcoal bricks right now. This is without a doubt the worst Golden Corral I have ever stepped in, $30.84 down the drain… walking out.
Next the smell of soggy carpets. Should have turned around at the ice machines. $90 later the food is cold. I literally watch the worker take the ham out oven yet it was the same temp as the crab salad. There was 1 bake potato. 1/3 of pans empty and need to be refilled. The ribs were barely cooked hard. My daughter waited 10min for pizza, watched the worker take the pizza out over sit it down and walk away. 4min later he comes back slices it and it’s burnt on bottom. The workers look tired which I understand it’s a busy environment but today is not busy. The drinks (lemonade taste acidic probably need the soda machine filters cleaned. All the fried food chicken and shrimp is burnt. It was probably cooked together because they were burnt showing same color. No vanilla ice cream, no cones for ice cream.
My family and I are loyal GC customers and I am disappointed 100 times over!!! Since the chesapeake location closed, we have no problem traveling an hour to this location and back. The GC in Virginia Beach could not take our holiday order so, I ordered from the GC in Newport News. On three occasions, I waited for help in the “lobby” over 15 minutes and watched as customers became so irate that I thought the police should’ve been called. There is NO order in the lobby area. While picking up my order on 11/25, the manager Susan Hall kept the food tied up tightly. When I tried to peek at the food, she quickly said the ham is BROWN because it was heated up. Trying to avoid tunnel traffic and the growing crowd becoming more irate, l took the food and left. While making the hour drive back to Virginia Beach, the rotten ham stunk so badly, I had to put my window down. At home, we were disgusted by the brown slimy meat. I phoned and Alicia and told me to return. On 11/26, I traveled another hour there and back.. and Alicia kindly supplied me with fresh meat. TODAY 11/27, I opened the 2 containers of sweet potatoe souffle for dinner and they were SOUR. I had to throw them away. I proceeded to warm up the rolls and found 4 strans of hair inside the box. I had to throw the rolls away. Then, the green beans had chicken crunch at the bottom of the family size cup. I spent over 100 dollars on a GC catering order and I either got food left over from the previous night, or food that sat out for a while. I got rotten food and food with hair in it all for 100+ dollars. Im disgusted!! Please refund me my HARD EARNED money as my family had to eat frozen pizza for Thanksgiving!
I ask the staff to call the police, but they got the manager instead. He said everything is ok now. I said no it is NOT ok. The man was sticking his middle finger at me behind the manager’s back as I was telling him what happened. I think the manager was afraid of him because he was a big man and had been loud and boisterous the whole time he was there.
We went to our seats to eat but we were literally shaking and lost our appetite. The nasty man sat just a few tables away facing us. I would like a refund of the $74 I paid. I am 71 years old and have never experienced such a terrible incident in my life! A waitress named Lisa came over to ask if we were ok and said she witnessed the whole thing. Other customers were shocked too. Someone said that same man was thrown out of the Williamsburg Golden Corral earlier that day. I don’t think he even paid because he walked past everyone at the cash register and yelled at the older woman with him that he didn’t have to pay, he paid already. We left the restaurant and don’t want to ever go back there. I believe the manager should have asked him to leave or called the police. Please give me a refund and talk to the manager about how to handle this type of situation.
STAY AWAY!!!!Super slow service, ICE COLD FOOD, I should have trusted other reviews, extremely limited selection of food. No new food or even butter replenished in over an hour. Such a sad experience from what my childhood remembers. No pepperoni pizza, and when it did come out fresh and hot it was disgusting no gummy bears for ice cream, no bread pudding, cold mash potatoes and Mac and cheese. Cold rolls 🙁 meat loaf was gross
