This is the first for us, spotted on the location that has a lake/pond next to each other. This BBQ place that (in my opinion) they do the side dish way better than their own BBQ. We got cream corn, think cut fried, greenbeans, hush puppies and the best one is sweet potatoes with pecan crumbles on top. The smokehouse brisket, ribs and pulled pork was reasonable. However, again the sweet potato side dish is a must try.
They have a variety of BBQ sauces. The people are very nice but not that actual full service, which is fine. They also have a fishing pond next to the dock. I think we will be back if we have a chance.

We loved this place the second we pulled up. The pond was really fun to walk around for our kids, they loved the ducks, too.

The food was SO GOOD. We couldn’t stop raving about it. Huge portions, too! This place has its own local charm and you can tell they put a lot of love into their food and their business. We will definitely be back!

I was excited to try this place when I saw it has 4.6 stars, but we were sorely disappointed.
Our bill was $68 for two brisket plates, wings, and the 3 pack of cobbler egg rolls.
The brisket was pale, rubbery, and tasted… I don’t even know how to explain it except devoid of food flavor? I would’ve had to smother it in sauce to convince myself I was eating good brisket.
Another review here said the green beans tasted like they were soaked in vinegar and salt water, and that is probably the most apt description. The Mac n cheese wasn’t creamy, it was kind of clumpy, maybe like it was made with a dry cheese. It also had some kind of spice in it that gave a little kick at the end, which I was really not a fan of.
The wings were insanely dry. Granted, we asked for a dry rub, but the meat itself was dry, and would’ve needed to be drowned in sauce to save them.
The beans were a big hit for me! Really nice flavor, and not spicy (which is my preference). The coleslaw was really interesting, as well! Not super sweet, but not too sour in terms of tang; I did enjoy it. The employees at the counter were very nice, and answered all our questions.
It was slow when we went, so I don’t know if maybe it was an off day or what. I wish I could’ve tasted their food on a good day, but I will likely not be returning.

Drove by this place a million times and never thought to give it a try. I called in a to-go order for 2 of the items from the Sunday Specials (which were a great deal by the way). The woman on the phone was so patient, understanding, and helpful with any menu questions I had. I arrived to pick up the food and was kindly greeted by a man who I am assuming was the owner. For this being the first time, this place is probably Top 3 in customer service that I’ve ever experienced. The food was absolutely delicious and I can’t wait to return and try many other menu items.

It may look like just a little place, tucked away down a dead end road and with not much attention, but the food here is genuinely great. I was so surprised by both the quality and taste of the food.

THANK YOU! I had been wanting a burger for about three days, so elated I decided to go this restaurant. My Queso burger was phenomenally delicious! It was cooked just the way I ordered and my okra was fried just right. The gentleman with the beard who took my order was pleasant and thorough. I will definitely be returning.

A BBQ place that knows how to do BBQ. My family is not a fan of southern food, but this place will convert you.
The smokehouse burger, hush puppies and fried okra are a must try. Be warned the food is heavy.
They have a variety of BBQ sauces. The people are very nice.
They also have a catch and release pond. Overall, I think we will be making this a normal stomping ground.

One of the best barbecue spots in the upstate. JT and his family are super kind people serving awesome comfort food at Sugartit lake. Operating out of a historic lakeside spot that first opened in 1955, Sheltons is a place you don’t want to miss. Highly recommend the burgers, brisket plate, pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, redneck egg rolls, and the sweet potato crunch.

My husband was looking online for good bbq places and we came across Sheltons, saw the rating and menu and said “Let’s Go!” From the quaint location to the warm greeting we received from who I assume was the owner (what a lovely family man) we were very happy with our choice. The food was great with plenty of sauces to choose from. Tonight was the first night my 3 year old ate her whole hot dog lol and he even threw in some brisket for my 11 year old to try which she really enjoyed. We will definitely be back and thank you again for being so kind!

Man what a place, took the family today after the church rush. What a good wholesome family ran business… We will make this an every week thing now. Phenomenal food, excellent prices, and most importantly his little family helping inside… Yep that’s right… What a genuine establishment…
