I visited twice; your other staffs were also hardworking.
Now onto the food: the varieties of selections of food are great. The fried zucchini, chicken and goat curries, saag, dal, chutney, sour vegetables soup (to open appetite), mango lassi and masala chai. I’m glad they offered garlic naan as an option. That itself, makes me return there bc it’s that good and other places don’t offer it for buffet which I think they could learn from.
The area is a little cold, despite me having a sweatshirt on. So the food also suffers a bit bc it’s not hot. The first time, I tried, the rice had a stale taste (and I definitely know my rice), but this time it’s better and not there anymore. The curry are on the blander side (butter chicken curry taste more like tomato bisque); could add a little spice for both curries. The selection of meat is good (glad they went with bone in goat; it’s less dry and more texture that way). Garlic naan was perfect the first time around (not greasy with the right amount of crisp and garlic).
Price: Originally; I went here bc compared to other Indian places this have the better value, but after about a little over a month the price have risen $3 extra dollars. The owner of the place is the same owner of Bombay Night. Hopefully; he keeps Family Kitchen as Family Kitchen not Bombay Night and continues to keep the value reasonable for a Indian buffet. (Bc I also noticed the multiple increases with Bombay Night).
Overall: Pretty good Indian/Nepalese Buffet; just a little feedback for it to get even better.
That’s a significant difference, and the staff’s response was dismissive rather than helpful. Accurate pricing and transparency matter, especially for new customers. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing enough that I won’t be returning. I’ll continue going to my usual spot, even if it’s a bit farther, because at least their prices match what they advertise.
However, I was very disappointed with the pricing situation. The sign board clearly advertised $16.99, but when the check came, it showed $19.99. I mentioned this to the female waiter that the sign outside clearly says $16.99, but she said she couldn’t do anything about it because of the new ownership policies.
Unexpected price changes like this feel misleading and unprofessional. If customers are surprised with higher prices than what’s advertised, it makes it hard to want to return.
