I had Uber bring me the 3-meat combo. Brisket, chicken, and ribs. The sides – bourbon beans and Cole slaw which was the best part but I think they were canned, not homemade. I tried to eat it but after a few bites I disgustedly dumped nearly a full tray in the trash. None of the meat tasted like real smoke. More of a chemical liquid smoke “flavor” that permeated all 3-meats. Brisket and chicken was dry and the ribs had chunks of gristle and bone that, of course, were not eatable. Maybe if I had been there in person, saddled up to the bar and run up a $200 tab before ordering I might could have enjoyed it, at least the drinks anyway. If you want really good, slow wood smoked BBQ… this ain’t the place.

Was hesitant to try based on the many detailed negative reviews. The wings and fries was a hit. After doing much travel and eating at various restaurants I have come to learn each establishment has their own finished product that makes them unique.
I was able to see some of their chopped barbecue and it has a different look and texture than what I’m used to. However, will try on my next visit.

This is one of the most underrated BBQ joints in town. I’ve been about 3 or 4 times between dine-in or takeout. Always had good food and good service. Beer prices are better than most spots in town also. Not a bad place at all to stop for dinner and a brew on the way home from work.

Great bbq! The Memphis rubbed pulled chicken was extremely juice and flavorful. The portions are generous and filling. The Mavs bbq bacon burger was amazing. The bacon was super crispy and the burger was a perfect size. The Mac and cheese has been one of the best I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend a visit to Mavericks smokehouse. You won’t be disappointed.

Maverick’s was near our hotel and decided to go there for dinner. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. For food, enjoyed a brisket sandwich while my son enjoyed his plain cheeseburger we had buffalo chicken strips as an appetizer. Everything was very tasty and would certainly come again next time we’re in town.

Love this place! I saw a post in the taproom saying “put some south in your mouth”! Perfectly said! This has got to be some of the best smokehouse in Durham. We got the Memphis rubbed Pulled chicken Sandwich, and the Texas dry rubbed prime brisket and a side of Caribbean jerk wings. Each sandwich came with a side and hushpuppies, for our side we got the maverick fries…yummy! Also, Duke was playing UNC so we got the specialty “Duke” drink. Everything was top tier spices and oh so delicious. I haven’t been to Texas before, but today I felt like Texas came to me. We will be going back! Oh there is also an outdoor area, and they had a fire pit going.

It was great time to have some BBQ not too hot or cold so enjoyed the outdoor dining. Tina the server/bar tender was a gem, very friendly and helpful. Made an awesome fishbowl drink . Will be back.

We stopped in for some food and a couple of beers. I ordered the full rack of ribs and was very disappointed. $32 for these dry & tough ribs is pretty pricey. The baked beans were OK but the salad was like yard clippings. My wife had a brisket sandwich that was so tough and dry that it was difficult to eat as a sandwich. Overall a big disappointment…no wonder the place was empty.

Not the cleanest place but it was open late night and we were starving. I’d not go there again. The sauce bottles were sticky. The tables weren’t cleaned. The staff was nice and the food came out quickly. It wasn’t the “Carolina BBQ “ I was looking for. The hush puppies were amazing.

It was our first time ordering from this place and probably the last. We ordered several items including 1Lb of brisket, and this was a “to go” order and unfortunately we didn’t check. When we got home, the brisket didn’t look as your regular brisket slices but rather just shredded meat. We went back to the place and asked about it as we thought they might have confused it for pulled pork as it looked the same and they assured us that was brisket and that was how they served it. We were so naive in believing them that we turned around and went home, but looking now at the picture online from other customers, I can clearly see slices of brisket rather than what we got. The meat we got don’t even resemble brisket burnt ends or anything and when you order it , they don’t specify it would be shredded brisket. I have been to several bbq places and this is the first I have served this. Sorry but really last time coming to this palace
