Madras Chettinad is easily one of the most satisfying Indian buffet spots around. Their lunch spread is a true celebration of both South Indian and North Indian flavors, offering an impressive variety of vegetarian and non‑vegetarian starters and main courses. From crispy appetizers to rich curries and aromatic rice dishes, every item feels thoughtfully prepared and full of authentic taste.
What really makes the experience stand out is how family‑friendly the restaurant is. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and comfortable—perfect for enjoying a relaxed meal with kids, parents, or a larger group. The staff adds to the charm with their attentive and genuinely friendly service, making sure guests feel taken care of from the moment they walk in.
If you’re looking for a delicious, diverse, and satisfying Indian buffet with great customer service, Madras Chettinad is absolutely worth a visit.
Madras Chettinad is a welcoming Indian restaurant in Alpharetta that truly shines at lunchtime with its buffet and continues into the evening with an à la carte menu until 9 PM. As vegetarians, we were delighted by how many choices were available alongside the non-vegetarian dishes, so mixed groups can eat happily together. The spread felt like a tour of South India: different types of dosa made just right, flavorful veg rice and pulao, and a comforting curd rice that was spot-on. The rice preparations in particular were excellent—fragrant, well-seasoned, and not oily. For dessert, the Gulab Jamun was soft and satisfying, a sweet finish without being cloying. You can even round off the meal with tasty paan at the counter.
Though it’s operated by a Punjabi owner, the kitchen team serves very authentic South Indian flavors, and the ambience also leans South Indian—simple, warm, and family-friendly. We found the dining area tidy and the washrooms clean and well maintained, which adds a lot to the overall experience. Service was efficient and polite, plates cleared quickly, and items in the buffet were replenished regularly so everything felt fresh.
Location-wise, it’s conveniently placed in Alpharetta and easy to reach; parking and access were straightforward, and it’s simple to spot on a maps app. Pricing felt fair for the variety and quality offered, especially at lunch. Whether you’re in the mood for a relaxed buffet with plenty of choices or a sit-down dinner before 9 PM, Madras Chettinad is a great pick for families, friends, and anyone craving South Indian comfort food. We left satisfied and energized—highly recommended for a wholesome, flavorful meal.
The lunch buffet is amazing, offering great value and a chance to try many different dishes. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and full of authentic flavors. The ambiance is comfortable and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal with family or friends.
The staff is friendly and helpful, and arriving a bit early ensures a smooth experience. While desserts are simple, the main dishes more than make up for it.
As visitors, we highly recommend trying out this restaurant—it’s a must for anyone craving authentic South Indian and Chettinad vegetarian cuisine. Delicious food, great variety, and excellent value. We can’t wait to return!
Since it’s a buffet, there wasn’t much to comment on regarding service. We paid around $32 for two people, which is quite cheap, so maybe the low price reflects the quality. If they increased the price and focused more on improving the dishes, the overall experience might be better.
We visit this place every time we feel like ‘its time to load those calories up’.
Truly – by the time you are done with the buffet – you will be in thanksgiving coma. In a good way.
There is wide variety of selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods.
In the veg, their daal is always a hit and sambaar is close. Non-veg, their chicken and lamb flare well.
Sometimes, they do not keep some stations hot, that is definitely something they need to work on, cold Indian food items, unless they should be served cold, is not a welcoming experience.
My favorite is their fruit custard. I do not have sweet tooth but I always get multiple servings of their fruit custard.
PS: I have not tried their a-la-carte menu much.
I should note for others, I came for the buffet, but it is for lunch only! Instead, I ordered my own buffet.
My server, Parminder, was very helpful and kind in working with me to find the right dish, as I was looking to try something new. I wound up trying the Chicken 65, the Khozi Venturi (I think that’s what it was called), mango lassi, and garlic naan. For me, the chicken 65, the Khozi and the naan were standout! Perfect level of spice, cooked just right, and very good flavor.
I’ll be back for the lunch buffet, but go any time and you won’t be disappointed – Just remember to ask for Parminder!
Most of the dishes are good and served fresh from 11:45am onwards. Go early to grab good seat and fresh food.
Chicken biriyani was delicious, chicken tandoori, and some veg dishes were delicious . Curd rice with pickles were delicious too. In desert only the mango/fruit custard was good and the other deserts were bad.
The senior guy in the entrance when we entered to get a seat, he was very rude and arrogant. I’m sure he must be going through something sad/bad but not to show his terrible attitude towards customers ♂️.
