Reviews
Between meetings and networking events, it was the perfect place to experience a true piece of local history. The atmosphere is authentic and energetic without feeling touristy. The staff was welcoming and attentive, even during a busy evening, and the food and drinks were consistently solid.
As someone who works closely with buyers relocating to the Black Hills, I always pay attention to the lifestyle and culture of a community. Saloon No. 10 captures the spirit of Deadwood — historic, lively, and community-driven. It’s exactly the kind of place I’d recommend to clients visiting the area and wanting to get a real feel for town.
Whether you’re in town for business, a conference, or just exploring the Black Hills, this is a must-stop spot.
Wild Bill’s alleged “death chair” is present and encased in some glass at this establishment.
Service wasn’t too profound, as the bartender seemed to prefer chatting with regulars who weren’t ordering as opposed to seeing to us that our orders were made. Seems more curtailed to local frequenters of the town than tourists.
Worth buying a cheap drink just to see historic props and neat pieces located around the establishment.
We were initially seated downstairs, where the atmosphere was very lively with music playing. It definitely had more of a bar scene vibe. However, we were later informed that dining guests were meant to be seated upstairs, which offered a quieter, more traditional dining setting.
For my meal, I ordered the Flat Iron steak with asparagus and a wedge salad. It was my first time trying a Flat Iron steak, and I found it to be pretty good. The asparagus wasn’t quite how I prefer it, but it wasn’t bad either. My only wish is that, given the price of the meal, it would’ve been nice to have a baked potato or mashed potatoes included.
The only real downside was the wedge salad. While it tasted good, it had far too much dressing for my preference. I generally have no dressing at home, but I don’t mind some when dining out. However, this one was a bit overwhelming, less dressing would have improved it significantly for me.
Overall, this was a good spot for a meal.
If you enjoy a lively atmosphere with live music, you’ll likely enjoy the downstairs area. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, like I do, the upstairs dining room provides a more relaxed setting.
There is so much to look at, and I love the one deck card games!
