As a real estate agent visiting Deadwood for a conference, I had the chance to spend an evening at Saloon No. 10, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation.

Between meetings and networking events, it was the perfect place to experience a true piece of local history. The atmosphere is authentic and energetic without feeling touristy. The staff was welcoming and attentive, even during a busy evening, and the food and drinks were consistently solid.

As someone who works closely with buyers relocating to the Black Hills, I always pay attention to the lifestyle and culture of a community. Saloon No. 10 captures the spirit of Deadwood — historic, lively, and community-driven. It’s exactly the kind of place I’d recommend to clients visiting the area and wanting to get a real feel for town.

Whether you’re in town for business, a conference, or just exploring the Black Hills, this is a must-stop spot.

Neat place to grab a drink and enjoy some of the wall art and scenery located around this ground floor bar.

Wild Bill’s alleged “death chair” is present and encased in some glass at this establishment.

Service wasn’t too profound, as the bartender seemed to prefer chatting with regulars who weren’t ordering as opposed to seeing to us that our orders were made. Seems more curtailed to local frequenters of the town than tourists.

Worth buying a cheap drink just to see historic props and neat pieces located around the establishment.

Service is good, friendly staff on the bar side. Waiting time for a table in dining area was more than an hour. Our food was ok.

During my first visit to Deadwood, I stopped at Saloon No. 10 for dinner.

We were initially seated downstairs, where the atmosphere was very lively with music playing. It definitely had more of a bar scene vibe. However, we were later informed that dining guests were meant to be seated upstairs, which offered a quieter, more traditional dining setting.

For my meal, I ordered the Flat Iron steak with asparagus and a wedge salad. It was my first time trying a Flat Iron steak, and I found it to be pretty good. The asparagus wasn’t quite how I prefer it, but it wasn’t bad either. My only wish is that, given the price of the meal, it would’ve been nice to have a baked potato or mashed potatoes included.

The only real downside was the wedge salad. While it tasted good, it had far too much dressing for my preference. I generally have no dressing at home, but I don’t mind some when dining out. However, this one was a bit overwhelming, less dressing would have improved it significantly for me.

Overall, this was a good spot for a meal.

If you enjoy a lively atmosphere with live music, you’ll likely enjoy the downstairs area. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, like I do, the upstairs dining room provides a more relaxed setting.

This is the quintessential Deadwood stop. We visited during Bike Week, so it was understandably busy! We were initially told there’d be a two-hour wait, but we found seats at the upstairs bar and were delighted to be finished with our meal within an hour. Once our order was placed, everything was absolutely delicious—my ribeye and the chicken Alfredo were both flavorful and cooked to perfection. Despite the bartenders being swamped with the crowd, I still felt well taken care of and appreciated their hard work. Downstairs is a lively, fun atmosphere with regular bands playing, adding to the great vibe. The staff is friendly and working tirelessly—definitely worth the visit!

They have a wonderful selection of whiskey. There is live music most nights. We enjoyed our time there. Very laid back and a great place to sip on a few drinks.

I loved everything about this place. It’s a museum and a bar all rolled into one. The Wild Bill reenactment was fun to watch, the beers on tap were good, and I even stuck $5 in a slot machine and came out $16 richer.

This gets confusing because there are two Saloon #10’s, both on the same strip but in different locations. The “original” Saloon 10 is called “Original Location of Saloon No. 10” and that is where Wild Bill was killed. They have a small section there that serves as a museum, and I also believe you can buy beer as well. This “Saloon No. 10” is a bar and where they do the re-enacment of Wild Bill’s death. This is the one I reviewed, since the name indicates this one. A lot of the pictures here show both of them, but they are two different places in all honesty. I put pictures of the newer modern location and the re-enactment to not confuse you. I did not drink here, but it was fun watching the re-enactment, and the atmosphere was great.

I learned how to play blackjack when I turned 21 at Saloon No 10. 20 years later lots had changed from layout, expansion, etc. But the atmosphere was still the same with all the history. Absolutely loved coming back and visiting and I will be back!

I absolutely love this place and have for years! It’s like a museum you can drink in, as they say.

There is so much to look at, and I love the one deck card games!

The gift shop has so many fun things to look at.

You should absolutely try the Social club while you’re there. They have so many delicious food options. You will not be disappointed
