Very satisfying lunch. I wanted something filling and the special combo didn’t disappoint. I got the pork cutlet combo and it came fully loaded with hot soba, salad, handroll and rice; the pork was crispy and tender. Also got the scorched natto roll, very good with a bit of hot sauce

But don’t dismiss this place for its exterior. I thought everything tasted pretty good. Pork katsu was a crispy breaded crust, and might have risked being overly dry, but it was a thick cut, and the curry balanced it out. Would love to come back and try their other items.

I had some great vegetarian udon at Fukagawa. The noodles were thick and delicious. They have an extensive Japanese menu. I will be coming back.

Overall, this location is a five-star even though I am putting down four stars for everything else. It is definitely a very unique place to have Japanese food, almost nostalgic. The food is good, in fact, many may say it’s great. I just don’t like to give something five stars if something is not exceptionally great. However, this is a location that I would definitely come back to multiple times I also have a tendency to compare the food taste with what you would find in Japan so some may say my ratings system is not fair. But that is why the overall score is a five-star, but everything else is a four. I think that the food service was a four but nothing against the restaurant. I believe they were understaffed and therefore the service was a little slower than I would have liked it. Unfortunately, with today’s economy, it’s understandable that everybody has to cut back somewhere.

Upon walking in to the restaurant you find yourself looking at a greeting desk. No one was there but staff was prompt with answering the door. As you walk through the dining area you find yourself looking at Japanese decorations, displays of walk abouts and upbeat music. The setup of the restaurant makes you feel warm and welcomed however once I sat on my seat I noticed some of the walls could use a bit of a clean up. The staff is gentle and prompt with serving your beverage. The menu had excellent options between breakfast anytime and dinner items. The service was precise with refills and presenting the meals on a timely fashion. The staff is dressed well and shows their compassion for their service by keeping guests checked in for any concerns or thoughts. This is a fantastic place to eat alone or a date/friend.

This is the first time I visited this Japanese restaurant. Unexpectedly, there were a lot of customers during lunch time. Due to the obvious lack of staff, I had to wait for a long time to place my order. There are many food choices, mainly serving various Japanese set meals, such as curry, tempura, and soba noodles. The portions of food are sufficient. A normal person can definitely eat enough. As for the taste, frankly speaking, it is just average by my standards. For example, my tempura was not crispy, and the batter was too thick. Compared to the Japanese-style western restaurant not far away, which is managed by Japanese, there is a clear difference in the standard between the two.

Great place for Japanese set meals! The 3 of us accidentally ordered 4 sets (we thought Vegan Combo was some kind of appetizer mix) so we spent a little more among us and got really full.
Clean and quite environment, good selection of manga books for the waiting time- Great portions and quality overall.

their foods are okay. combo portion is big. They have a room kind of table spot that has 2 tables. Staffs are nice, would come back for a casual hangout or for lunch that needs some quiet environment. Liked the fact that they have Kirin draft option.

Arrived at 6, told it wasn’t happy hour despite the menu stating it’s until 6:30. Fine. Took a long time to take an order, maybe 20 minutes after being seated. Pork katsu curry arrived and the cutlet was at most 3 strips of 1oz pork each. The plate was a thin veneer of gummy rice and dry, shredded cabbage. Curry sauce was watered down and mediocre. The miso soup tasted like instant packaged stuff from the market next door. Honestly, just looking at the plate, any self-respecting chef would never let it leave the kitchen. Overall obscenely overpriced.
