I especially want to compliment the service. It was our daughter’s birthday, and after dinner we were busy taking pictures—the restaurant has a lovely ambience, perfect for photos. In the middle of all this, the waitress brought the check, which I paid.
As we were about to leave, I realized that I hadn’t tipped. I stopped her and asked if I had forgotten to do so. Her response truly surprised me. She said, “Sir, since you were busy with your family taking pictures, I didn’t want to disturb you again, so I marked it as ‘no tip’ and gave you the final bill.”
I was genuinely amazed by her honesty and sincerity. I had no words—just thanked her and made sure to give her a 20% tip in cash.
Great food, great ambience, and exceptional service. Highly recommended!
Thanks for looking into this and for considering the spice level requests. Increasing to 3 star by considering it as one time mistake. For those who can’t tolerate the spice level, this can create a bad impact. Please clarify it with the chef and the serving staffs, as they shouldn’t assume their spice level is the normal spice level for all. And for biryani, they suggested some option like what you mentioned, and I was indeed ordering that biriyani only with “Fish” as the protein. I didn’t realize fish biriyani was a separate category which comes in spicy version only. If that was told to me, I would have gone with chicken or whatever option which is less spicy, as fish biriyani was never my priority. Our priority was mild food. Reordering was not an option, as we were already delayed with 1st order itself. Anyway hope you will give clear instructions to both who take the order and the chef to consider the spice level requests seriously.
We specifically asked if we can get any biriyani and appetizer which are not spicy. They suggested an option and said they’re not spicy. We asked for mild. But both biriyani and chicken appetizer came out to be super spicy. Make sure you’re honoring customer requests and if you’re not able to do that, ask your servers to set that expectation.
Slow service – Biriyani took good amount of time to come and by that time we were done with other dishes and kept waiting for it.
Decent portions to share with 3 people. They’re not massive but they hit the spot if you’re already 50-60% full. The butter chicken was very creamy and the chicken was tender. The naan wasn’t very big but it was fluffy, rice was really good. Their samosas were huge compared to Curry Up ones.
Service was great despite the menu was online, the ordering part was done in-person. I felt that if the menu had a bit more descriptions on each dish, it’ll get customers to really try different dish at each visit.
Shop cleanses were on point. Nothing seemed dirty or the place felt like a trash dump.
Overall was 10/10 would definitely revisit to try their other food dishes!
What really pushed this into two-star territory was the poor service and chaotic atmosphere. There was a line of confused guests crowding the lobby and the dining hall (see picture), all waiting to be seated with zero guidance from staff. It felt completely disorganized, and no one seemed to be managing the flow or helping customers feel welcome.
Big no-no for me. I won’t be coming back.
Overall it was ok experience and stars are mainly for food .
Park is there but space is very small for SUV and 100% your next door car will hit you while opening and closing the door ..so be careful
Pakka Local is one of the only Indian restaurants where the food and ambiance is great in the Bay area! The restaurant is owned by a sweet telugu couple and their staff were friendly and professional.
