Very tasty food, for a cafeteria. Their Magnolia Plate includes 1 entree, 2 sides, bread, and drink. When you enter the service line, the first items you see are the very tempting deserts and salads, but those are ala carte additions, and are an extra $5 or more for each item, which will add an additional $5 or $10 to your $20 Magnolia Plate. Not complaining because they are lovely and delicious dishes, but will turn your $20 lunch into $30. We weren’t aware of this on our first visit, so we’re just letting you know. The food is very tasty and well presented. The portions are more than adequate and we were very pleased with our lunch. They do have private dining rooms for group dining, and my volunteer organization had dinner here the other evening. The Magnolia Room provided a dedicated server for our group, and she was excellent. While this is a cafeteria, the entire staff here were very nice, so it was our pleasure to add a generous gratuity for taking care of our group so we’ll. You should come by at least once to try lunch or dinner. It’s ideal for a couple to have a nice lunch or dinner here, but also pretty efficient for a larger group, say 40 people or so. Nothing pretentious here, just a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere, and I especially appreciate that it wasn’t loud or have blaring music.

Genuinely enjoyed all components of this classic Southern style cafeteria. They pay homage to the tradition of old style cafeteria spots and enhance the vibe with vintage decor, cozy seating and low, relaxed lighting. Plus, the prices are affordable and the staff is super helpful and friendly. We will definitely make the trip back!

Not nearly as frequent as we’d like but we some how manage to make it work when we’re near by each other…true definition of where there’s a will, there’s a way…and almost always involves something delicious…today was extra heavy on the delicious part! I’d never been to Magnolia Room, even when it was in Rich’s, so when Jim recommended it there was no other option! As much as I enjoyed the meal, which was a LOT, I enjoyed picking Jim up, driving through memory lane down Jimmy Carter Blvd, ‘That was a Mazzio’s, that was Showbiz, that was Cub Foods, that was a Sizzler, etc…’ and catching up on the way to Magnolia, where we met Tim and the conversations continued, over our delicious meal!
According to Jim, S&S Cafeteria had a daily patron who, when he heard S&S’s plans to close, he offered the staff an opportunity to work at a new place he planned on opening, voila, Magnolia Room was born…
The food speaks for itself…we all ordered pork chops over rice (hard to pass up) but I think we managed to order some different sides…squash casserole, okra, collards, dressing, all of it amazing, right down to the rolls! Desserts…don’t even get me started but we orders a strawberry shortcake, banana pudding, and chocolate creme pie…not a single bite on our table wasn’t absolutely delicious…and the staff…my goodness…it was like a row of grannies asking you what you wanted after spending all day cooking what they were serving you…I even ordered meatloaf and chopped steak with gravy over rice and some sides to take home to my parents and they said it was delicious…I’m already looking forward to my next meal there…the line lead (her name escapes me) said her sister lives in Huntsville so she jotted down Champy’s and my name and said she’d tell her sister to come check us out! Do not use going to this gem of a spot if you’re in the area!

One of the nicest cafeterias I’ve visited. This is not a buffet, but a price for an entree, sides, bread and a drink. Portions are good do you don’t need to go through again. Food quality is very nice because nothing fits around. Not sure if the posted costs because the matters are between $17-22 dollars lunch is right around the low $20s with tax and tip.

The ambiance of this resturaunt is very nice but unfortunately we patronize the resturaunt for the food. I must say I was greatly disappointed by all the raving reviews. Its either the customers aren’t use to better quality tasting soul food, or this is the best you are going to get for soul food in this area. Nonetheless, the food was so bland and uneventful. With a family of many chefs/cooks you can truly tell where this resturaunt is cutting corners. Highly disappointed since we were rooting for this resturaunt to be our go to for soul food.

This place is always on point and always have different food options. Food is so good! One time I got all the way home and my baked chicken was a little too salty. I mentioned to them on my next visit and they took a little off of my order. I was impressed!! I drive from the Southside to Tucker because I always want to see what they are gonna have. Lol. Think of this place like a nicer and bigger Piccadilly. Oh and the sweet potato souffle and red velvet is a fav! Thank yall Magnolia for the good food and the great service! I will be back as always.

Recommended by a guide in Stone Mountain, my Michigan family came down for authentic southern cuisine.
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! They would refresh beverages constantly and asked about our day.
The food was great! Especially the banana pudding with Nila wafers!
