My favorite cousin has his wedding here. I had not seen some of my family in six years we all met for this event. I meant the world to me. The atmosphere was amazing. The staff was so courteous. Everything went really well.

Great community restaurant. I recommend the Blue Heron Chicken with baked potato and veggies. The carnitas tacos were good, not super authentic but good. The starter bread and garlic butter was really good. We’ll definitely be back.

If you’re in the mood for heaping plates of finger licking delicious food, look no further. The pork belly burnt ends eggs benedict had me questioning everything I’d ever known of the traditional eggs Benedict. The sweet and savory chunks of pork belly are typically not something a person would have with their benedict, but the combination of honey glazed sweetness and creamy feel good hollindaise had my mouth watering. An unlikely pair perfectly orchestrated into a magnificent dish. Of course one cannot visit this cheeky little German restaurant without trying the Belgian waffles. The Monkey waffles were the true heroes in todays Sunday brunch. The delightful pairing of homemade fluffy waffles, thick and creamy (also homemade) whipped cream topping, bananas, caramel drizzle and granola was to die for. What made this dish so wonderful was its ability to feel like a delicious treat without the over-dramatic sweetness. It took all of my willpower to resist licking the plate clean. I have found a new favorite Coos Bay restaurant and will be back for more.

Great out of the way restaurant. The view from the windows was beautiful. The atmosphere was nice, but not too nice. Very comfortable.

Our last visit was a Togo order from the grill area and it was bad. My hamburger was burnt to a crisp, and my son’s sandwich was almost just as bad as mine. My husband ordered wings and he said he’s never had such bad food. He threw away almost the whole meal. I started to just write it off and let it go, then I thought about it and called them and told them of our concerns. The girl I talked to was as nice as can be and she gave us a credit for the next visit. We have been going to the Blue Heron for the last 8 years and this was the first time our food was awful. The restaurant usually has great food. We will go back, because I think there must have been a problem that night.

The Blue Heron has a new Wood-Fired/gas pizza oven. The Pizzalaio, Christian, is from Argentina and he has of Italian descent. He made me a calzone to die for. Literally, “m’ha fatto venire l’acqualino in bocca” (it made my mouth water). In fact, the other customers around me at the bar (and the bartender) had saliva on the side of their mouth looking at and smelling my calzone

We had a great time with our friends. It’s a smaller dining room so it fills up fast. We were able to call on a Saturday for same day and got a reservation for a party of 6 at 6:30pm. All the food was top quality. No problems with any of the orders. There is a bar in a separate room in the back end of the building with a deck. Cool, unexpected spot in Oakhurst.

The food is so good here we come once every 2 weeks. It is a relaxing atmosphere and service is great. Only reason not 5 stars is because we have had a couple issues with take out. We always look forward to eating at The Blue Heron at the end of a long week.
